I have an official Rotax service near my home, I was looking to send my boat (Scarab 165) for service in the warranty time.
They said : no touch the Scarab because they no software for it  ?
I don't have a good feeling with the original dealer , and I don't want to drive 6 hours for the service.
The software is not done by Rotax ? The 165 is just a big jet ski o_O

Answer from the dealer:
Thank you for reaching out to share your concern. You are correct we can service the jet pump and the motor as long at there are no issues with the unit. The motor and jet pump assembly, in your Scarb, is developed and sold by BRP to the manufacture of your Scarb. The issue, that we have, is the software used to service the motor is only available to Scarb dealers. As a result we cannot check for error codes, reset maintenance records or troubleshoot any running or associated (such as gauge functions, running problems, etc) issues.
If you understand and accept the limitations, we are working under, we would be gland to service your unit to the best of ability under the circumstances, which have done for other customers.
Again, thank you for expressing your concern,.

The dealer is correct. The Scarab boat has a Rotax engine and jet pump bucket controlled by Scarab software. The dealer would have to be a Scarab service center to have access to the Scarab software that controls the Rotax motor and jet pump bucket.

At first they refuse to work on my boat, now I could go back and request some services. I am disappointed by the service from the Scarab dealer.

I would think they would work on your jet pump and engine itself but not on what electrically controls the engine through the Scarab system which controls some areas of the engine. If you have engine issues I doubt they would work on your boat at all because the engine is controlled by Scarab. Definitely would not honor Scarab warranty work.

Agree, ...

I found a "small" work shop, yes at 3 hours, he could do all the jobs.
He has the software if needed ;), he is doing only jet boats and jet skis ;).

I start to winterize my 165 with the 170HP Rotax.
Water side is clean, I will remove the sparkplugs.
One question : to remove the cover it seems we have only clips ?

Look up "mobile jet ski mechanic". You may find one willing to the normal work using BUDS software. Also Candoo Pro software is usable. I just had my Seadoo Trixx serviced and asked them if they were able to do the normal servicing on my SCARAB 195G...the responded YES. They were using BUDS software to adjust my IBS/VTS system and update the firmware. So give it a go, I don't think you have to go do a dealer, just a mobile mechanic with software. Again, we are talking about the BRP ROTAX/4 TEC, etc. type engines.

Yes only clips. Be careful. I broke several the first time I removed the covers. I just left them off afterwards. Told myself it kept the engines cooler.
