Took her out for shake down / break in today. Into storage until she can launch and moor in April.

Very nice, congratulations. Hopefully you were gentle with her?

Congratulations and welcome. From your user name, I'm assuming you're home waters are Lake Tahoe? Did your dealer mention whether or not they set the boat up with high altitude pitched impellers?

Hi - the boat is not currently set up with high-altitude pitched impellers --- but I just received some from Impros and am planning on installing in the next 2-3 weeks. Also, just finished a ribbon delete so hoping performance will be a little better on the lake this season (if/when the inspection centers/ramps open...not looking good right now).

Last season I was getting ~6300 RPM and 35mph at WOT - and a little sluggish out of the hole compared to sea level (best conditions/minimally loaded). Will report back in a month or so on improvements.

Beautiful boat!
When you switch the impellers, you may want to switch to Mercury High Performance Gear Lube (it's fluid). That way when you do your 100 impeller inspection, you can pull them, remove the cone, dump the Mercury Gear Lube (which absorbs some water) and replace. Install a new seal and reinstall the impellers.
There was a post on here about the impeller locking up and blowing an engine due to rust. If you look in the service manual periodic maintenance, almost the last item is "Impeller Duct Check". When I did my first 100 hour inspection, I found drops of water in both units, and thus tried to make it an easier service.

Whoops -- looks like I hijacked this thread. Sorry, thought the question was directed to me for some reason...first day with the computer ; /

It should be a whole other animal this season. Glen at Impros knows his stuff.

No worries. I am interested in how it’s going to perform in Tahoe, if I ever get the chance to launch. The dealer made no mention of an impeller swap. I did ask about trim tabs and was told they’re not available from Yamaha and dealer will not install after market parts. That’s ok, I don’t mind using the boat as is and then decide what modifications to make. I just thought since the boat is just sitting anyway, I’d have them installed now. Earlier you mentioned stripping or doing something that did make an improvement. Sorry I’m not more specific, but as I write this that comment is not visible to me.

What I was asking about above was “ribbon delete”. What is that?

Ribbon delete is removing a metal spark arresting 'filter' from the manifold. You can also replace the factory air filters with "power filters". All of this allows increased airflow for more power (I've read 5-10% but don't have first hand experience yet-- just did this a couple of weeks ago and haven't been on the water). There's ~20% less oxygen at 6000' so this is suppose help.

Much more information on this site from far more informed people than me.

@Tahoe Boater @Tahoe CAL. I also boat permanently at Lake Tahoe. You’ll both appreciate having high-altitude pitched impellers and ribbon delete (have both). Not as good as being at sea-level, but good improvement for being at 6k ft.

@Tahoe CAL. Yamaha will cover cost to swap your impellers (one time).

I guessing the ribbon delete would void your warranty, correct?

Nah... my dealer removed mine for me. There's nothing to damage or be damaged by removing it. It's sole purpose is to act ad a spark arrestor, but these modern fuel injected motors have little to no chance of having backfire.
