Hi guys,

I took my SS Tango Super Sport out last time and was parked at the dock for lunch for ~ 1 hour. Afterwards found it had a ton of water in it in the underfloor area and engine bay. Bilge pump worked but it was pretty full, thank heavens we made it back to the trailer.

Q - does anyone have suggestions as to how to troubleshoot this ?

I have checked and found that one of the exhaust pipe clamps - the one connected to the outlet - was rusted through / snapped - this seems like a likely culprit to me ?

Do these boats leak from anywhere else ??

Anyone know where to get replacements for these ?

What size clamp? I found them here at 14.30 aka West Marine.
There is a list of different sizes. I googled "stainless steel exhaust clamp sugar sand tango". I know West Marine does not do business in all countries, but those hose clamps are available there. Look for exhaust hose t bolt clamps. You will find them cheaper than West Marine, although they do price match with other suppliers.

Thank you very much Zipper ! My local Mercury boat / engine service centre isn't much help on parts for the jetboats. This certainly helps.

I carry a bunch of different size pipe clamps in my boat for this reason and also I check and lube them regularly especially if you boat in saltwater. Hope you find the problem but its likely the exhaust clamp.

thanks guys I did end up changing out all 8 of the hose clamps for new 100% stainless ones - and now all appears ship-shape. The older ones literally crumbled to bits when I tried to undo them ! Jeez.

With over 50 years of experience boating in salt water I can tell you this is a very common problem with most jet boats be it a 4 tec or a Yamaha I spray all the clamps with white lithium grease to coat them.
