I am contemplating the purchase of side nav lights for my 195 HO Impulse (http://www.sea-dog.com/groups/4259-led-side-mount-side-lights). I have researched it a good bit with respect to placement and have found that the "Sidelight fixtures must be installed parallel with the fore and aft centerline of the vessel and arranged to show an unbroken light from right ahead to 22.5 degrees abaft the beam, a total sector arc of 112.5 degrees." While I understand what this is saying I want to be sure I do this job absolutely correct. With that being said has anyone installed or have side nav lights on their Scarab? I just hate the pole nav light with a passion! When I do this I will be sure to document everything to help anyone who wishes to do this in the future.

I am confused. The lights you linked to replace a single center mounted bow light. Are you trying to use them to replace the pole mounted white light at the stern?

Wow, that is tacky. Can't believe Scarab did that!

I understand...thanks for the tip. The bow on the Scarab is pretty comfy to sit on the top of and I was trying to get them out on the side as to not sit on a "lump". The wiring won't be an issue but making sure that I stay within regs is. Thanks again!

@Joseph Baxter Just go over to the dealer, and make a template from a new one.

@spaz1868 That is sick! I may just have to do this. Although, I wish they were LED.

Yeah, I've had my eye on a flip-up bow light for a while now....that's a good price in the link posted. The only issue I have with them is that the SS gets a bit FREAKIN HOT in the summer sun. :(

Other than that they are very cool.

Hmmm....I am thinking it will be easier to install the flip up as opposed to the side nav lights....wish they were LED but wish in one hand.....well you know the rest. I am going to dig in a bit more. Thanks for the suggestion!
