Can someone please explain the break in period for the 1812cc, 1.8 liter engines? I want to know how long one needs to run the engines at specified rpms before it can be opened up.

Thanks in advance.

I believe they have it set in the ECU to limit the rpm's until that time, no? Otherwise, i would just use your own judgement. When you pick up that new 2015 240 LS they will let you know :)
Seriously, where's the new boat man?

What @Williamsone46 said. Broken in the motors on mine a few weeks ago (2014 ls) . 30 minutes at 5000 rpm was the most painful. At 6000 rpm we were on plane and could cruise around nicely for an hour. After that, have at it! We were at Shelbyville Lake so the 60 minutes at 6000 was a trip to skeeters for lunch then back.

Wasn't it mentioned sometime that Yamaha water test every boat at WOT?

I've just confirmed via the web site, yamaha do water test every boat, and I'd imagine there not light on the throttle.

Hmmm, conundrum!

Car assembly plants do the same thing in the dynamic vehicle testing booth.
Always wondered the same thing about DVT vs owner break in...

I am not really worried about the health of the boat, but the support of th e warranty. Since they can read the engines to find out how they were run, I want to avoid any possibility of warranty issues.

If the factory ran them at WOT then THEY could be held responsible for any damage by this logic no? I don't think they would go that far. I think the engines will outlast even the 5yr warranty period anyhow.

What he's saying is the starved rock to peoria run is like 4-5 hours at 30 mph or so and then full throttle the last mile
;)
Prolly should break it in a bit first as cold as it is neil
