What am I missing? I have a 2016 Yamaha 242 Limited S that has a Polk PA4A head unit under the helm. Instead of using any of the existing speaker wires, while replacing the stock speakers and adding a sub, I went ahead and ran all new speaker wires to the helm where I’ll be mounting the amp. The amp will power up, but I couldn’t get the kicker amp’s gain controls to light up when trying to adjust prior to connecting speakers per the user manual. I then went ahead and connected a few speakers and there is no sound. I have a brand new RCA cable running from the Polk head unit “front line out” to amp 1 on the kicker amp. It seems that the amp is not getting a signal from the Polk head unit. The only other wire I have connected from the Polk head unit to the Kicker amp is the remote wire. Is there something Im simply overlooking?

Are you sure the amp is powered properly?. And you should have the blue turn on wire connected to the Polk HU. I had lots of problems getting my set up working and learned a couple of tricks just to check things:

- with nothing connected but the pos and neg cables, run the blue speaker wire directly from the battery. If the amp doesn’t light up, it might be bad
- run an rca cable directly from your phone/tablet using an adapter. Connect up one speaker. And play music in your phone. If you don’t hear it, either your amp is bad or or your speaker is.

Send us pics of your set up and maybe we can help further

All good now. Original amp was bad. Did have to use both RCA outputs from the Polk head unit to get all the speakers to work. Very pleased with overall sound.

Hey guys…same boat, new wet sound speakers. Everything worked fine after the speaker swap. Now, my 2 rear starboard side speakers are dead. (Rear cockpit and swim deck) The speakers are fine, I’m thinking it’s either wiring or the amp. Any knowledge of how the amp drives these two? Can one open wire kill 2 speakers?
Any other thoughts or suggestions?
I hate just throwing a new amp in unless I know that’s the cause.
thanks!
