OK, I am sure I am opening a can of worms on this one, and probably debated a million times on here, but why do I keep hearing complaints about people being sprayed in the face and wanting to change from Cobra Jet to TV's, or vice versa? Or this system is better than that system? Lets look at some facts.

1. You are in the water getting pulled by a boat. Either on a tube, or on skies. You are going to get wet and have a thrill ride. That's the point
2. Surfing at 10-11 mph can not put out that much spray to deter you from being able to surf.
3. Any boat makes a spray and a wake.
4. Are you staying directly behind the boat? That's like looking down the end of a garden hose and getting mad that you keep getting wet.
5. I have done tons of tubing and skiing, both as a participant and a driver, and I never stay behind the boat. Always flinging to one side or the other.
6. You are participating in a water sport. Pretend you are an Olympic swimmer and wear some goggles.

OK. Done with the vent. But please, can someone help me understand why it is discussed so much? I thought that was all part of the excitement and fun.

I actually didn’t realize this was a big debate. If you’re skiing, tubing or wakeboarding (like you I’ve done all 3 many times), you’re too far from the boat to get spray from the jet (at least I never have). We’re still learning to surf so I really can’t comment.

As you said, if you don’t want to get wet, you probably shouldn’t do water sports. That being said, I remember skiing in October when the air and water were probably 50 degrees and I definitely didn’t want to get wet. Did a shallow water start and timed the slingshot to stop in a foot of water! Both tricky and somewhat risky but I was young and stupid at the time…

There is a debate?? naa just people trying to educate others about water spray behind a jet boat, it should not be an issue and it should not be pounding on the people in the tubes we have time and time again explained how it is avoided and as many people have stated it gets avoided by following a few rules and understanding a few principles.
Jets push and props pull, jets are out of the water on top of it and props are under the water.
If you follow a few basic principles and have the correct gear you can enjoy tubing without being sprayed in the face.
It's like debating walking on broken glass, certainly not a big deal if you wear shoes , no shoes well then that is a big deal.

It's only an issue if you are using Mobil 1 Oil. :)

Lengthen the rope a bit and make sure you tubes are properly inflated.

Maybe a debate is not the right wording, but alot of people seem to complain and say to get a longer rope, or buy a different system. I havent had a chance to even get behind mine yet, so I have no evidence to base anything on..

So where does the "spray" come from? The jets? The steering system? Is it really bad enough to get you 50 feet behind the boat that its worth so many talking about? And like I said, I dont wanna look down a running hose. Haha

Not really, I have one. I hate it. It is just meant to keep the rope out of the water. Used it twice I think it now since in the garage.

my kids dont like spray 5 and 7... (spray in the eyes does get annoying after while) i dont like longer rope ... less control of the tube

Maybe I need to get behind mine and see, but that seems like a long way for water to spray, and I would think only if they are directly behind the boat.

The spray is much worse on a jet. There’s pics or video on here of one of our boats on plane from behind and the jets are fully out of the water. It’s not rooster tail spray up in the air, but if you’re face first on a tube it’s going to hit you in the face.

I hear the spray is better with red boats. They’re faster, too.

Awesome pic, but still why you dont pull directly behind the boat. Keep em sliding from side to side. Lol

Yep there's definitely ways around it but my wife wore contacts the first time and noticed it right away.
