Stains on vinyl seats!

So I came off the lake last weekend towards the end of the day and did a hasty clean up job thinking I would give it a good cleaning later in the week. I parked it under a big oak without the cover on. Now their are small brown spots all over my front seat cushions! I was able to get off the stains that are on the smooth vinyl surface with some XPS vinyl cleaner, but the mesh part of the seat would only lighten a little bit. Anyone else able to get tannin's out of the seats before? This is what I get for doing a half-ass clean up job and not covering it like I always do!!

Have not tried this but read that it will take care of stains in the mesh.....

Either Mr. Awesome or Mean Green. If you go the Mean Green route, Make sure you use a vinyl protectant or conditioner after.

303 All Purpose Cleaner and a light duty brush. Then a good coat of 303 Aerospace Protectant.

Never be too aggressive with a stain. Try reasonable scrubbing. My interior guy swears by simple green. If using a similar substance doesn't take it out then as Murf mentioned the sun will clear it up. I had a cushion that had yellow bird poop on my bright white new interior and nothing would take it off. Took it off and left it in the backyard for 2 days and it's gone. I also just had a cushion with a brown stain of unknown substance and my wife said "use Shout". I put a little on there and it came right off.

This ^^^^^ Had a friend with a new Red cover up that stained my seat pink. Nothing would get it out. 2 days in the sun and it disappeared.

So. . . . I rarely ever put the port side seats up as we prefer the lounge configuration. So when I put them up today I noticed these brown stains. Going to try the solutions above . . . . Hope one of them works.

That's mold growing in the fibers and behind the vinyl. Sunlight and airflow will dull it.

I first used warm soapy water followed by Mary Kate Vinyl cleaner. The MK vinyl cleaner worked really well and brightened the entire cushion, but they still had light stains. 1 pass with a magic eraser took all the stains completely off! I then rinsed with the warm water.

This just worked for me. After boating on Father's Day we didn't know if my little grandsons shoes or my son's shorts did it but there were blue stains on two cushions. I tried several products with a magic eraser but nothing worked at all. Five days in the direct sunlight got rid of 95% of the stains.

Left the boat uncovered and in the sun for last three days. . . . .stains are gone. . . .
