Subwoofer in bow of 242?

First off, not my actual boat, I found this image in the media section since it's raining and I can't take an actual photo. I'm looking at adding a 3rd subwoofer and I'd like to put it in the bow area. But I don't want to take up space under the bow seats. Does anyone have any idea how much space is free in the area behind the step up pictured here?

I am not sure on exact measurement but I looked into this at first then realized the anchor locker is completely enclosed making that a tight space. So I quickly looked elsewhere.

Unfortunately not. It was actually done by the previous owner, so I just get the benefits. ?

Finally had time to try to get some measurements. There is only one way to get to the back side of that step without cutting a hole, through the ski locker. I wedged my fat butt into the locker and could see behind the step, but couldn't maneuver enough in there to use a tape measure. I would say there is about 7-7.5 inches of room behind that step up. Plenty enough for a shallow mount sub. The only issue is the slight curve to the front of the step, but that can be fixed with some hdpe, a cardboard template and a router.

I've seen that thread. Those are in the anchor locker, and look really nice. I have a backrest there though. I'm going to put something below the step.

Mine shouldn't rattle at all. My anchor locker is lined with a few layers of 1/2 foam.

Slightly off topic, but... depending on boat loading the anchor locker drain can sometimes sit under water line.
Which discouraged me from installing any permanent padding there, I just throw a couple pieces of gym mat at the bottom. Which is okay but not great.
Wonder how does your foam padding hold up - if you posted on it somewhere else?

1 season with it so far and it is holding up great.
