Swapping out seat post

That's a great recommendation tracerrx. First it isn't a Garelick. After my experience with Garelick I'm ready to move to a different manufacturer. Not only do I have to get on the floor to reposition the Garelick with both hands, but the lock pin bracket detached soon after I installed it. I've just never been happy with it.

I think I'll place an order for the Springfield but I can't find it for the $159 price you paid. I'll keep looking. The link you provided leads to one for $171.06 tonight. Still a good price but $159 is better!

Thanks for the photos.

I ordered it almost a year ago, I guess the price went up!

You can order one Here. And here is a pic of both captains and passenger pedestals. I moved the original captains pedestal to the passenger side, raised the seat just enough that it's perfect on both sides now!

I replaced my factory pedestal with one of the Garelick manual height adjustable ones and if I adjust it to the highest settting, it is very wobbley. What is the Springfield Mainstay like when it is set at the heighest setting?

I've had no problems with stability at highest setting, feels great!

I did take the original captains chair, and used it to replace the original passenger chair (which raised the passenger a couple inches to get better clearance over the cushions)... Depending on the weight of the passenger, while not wobbly, I wouldn't recommend putting a heavy passenger in the seat while doing high speed maneuvers!

I'm very disappointed in my Garelick pedestal. Yes mine feels loose, it is very difficult to adjust requiring two hands and I have to get on my knees to do it. It is difficult to get it to latch. To me it is an expensive piece of junk.

If I spent money to upgrade anything on the boat the first thing would be to replace that pedestal. I'd like a gas shock type which would allow me to pull a lever and the seat would rise with no weight on it, or it would descend by sitting on it.

Reviving old thread looking into this, i recall reading our factory pedestal on the 2007+ sx230 is 9" tall

Compared 14 for the springfield adjustable ones seem a little high. Is this an accurate comparison, or am I missing a measurement?

Thanks.

Those measurements are correct... Ive had no problems with "Stability".... In all honestly however I "Lean" against the seat much more then sit.

Neat, Thanks. I'm between this one and the gas adjustable one, mostly because I like the idea of adjustability, and my seat controls are loose and don't feel solid. (and the gas one comes with the seat mount with new swivel control also). I don't like the thought of the gas shock going bad, and I'd like the seat to be solid in the waves (Can't have the seat loosing height during the drive)

Not sure how well the gas shock one locks the height. (Can't be too bad, one would think, but hard to tell)

@Bill D forget your broken bolster, just get this and you'll be set!
