Swimming Pigs Found Dead

Sad news! Glad we got to see all the pigs last year. My favorite though were the iguana's, the pig's were neat but the beach and water was dirty, pigs go to the bathroom a lot. Here is my raw video of the pigs, iguanas, and dolphins.

Wow, that is sad news. It will be interesting to find out what exactly happened. The article speaks to tourism and it's pretty amazing to see the money that pours in around the beach to feed these pigs. You'll see massive yachts from all over the world anchored near these pigs. It's really kind of crazy.

Drunk teenagers is my bet.

It would sicken me to think people would poison them. I sure hope that isn't the case.

I guess that it wouldn't be safe to plan a Jetboaters pig roast; wouldn't want to get poisoned.

@Bruce I think you need to start the annual Jetboaters pig roast (Hawaiian style) at Honeymoon Harbor. There's plenty of sand to dig a hole in and it appears there's plenty of people who would eat it. @MrMoose might be onto something here.

I really hope this comes back as something natural and not something someone did.

I have considered this. The biggest issue is firewood that would have to be transported from the US. The only firewood I am aware of over there is driftwood and the locals have a monopoly on that.

Also with it being private property I think the smoke might bring the wrong kind of attention.

Nonsense. What would cause them to eat sand? All at once? Probably pouring rum on sand and tgey lick it up.

When we were there last year a lot of people and a few seemed to be locals would come with buckets of food scraps and dump it on sand for the pigs to eat, so it is no surprise to me that they would find a lot of sand in their bellies. However, it is hard to image that the sand was the cause of death since feeding the pigs has been going on for a long time.

They would be dying off slowly one at a time if it was an accumulation of sand by being fed off the beach repeatedly. If sand was the cause, something had to cause all of the dead pigs to ingest a lethal amount all at once.
