SX-230 SeaDek Install (Note: Pix Heavy)

After two boating outing with the Sea Deck on the swim platform, the wife is now think of having me do the interior. @GTBRMC with your great work and pictures I see another purchase from @JetBoatPilot and another project for me. The forum is darn expensive for being free to join.

I am wondering how easily the SeaDek will come up after several years. The factory Hydroturf looked like it was installed with carpet cement or something. The adhesive backing on the SeaDek makes me wonder if it will be a similar removal or if it will pull off relatively cleanly with a strong pull.

If the removal will be anything like the Hydroturf, I'll skip doing the interior. We have carpet that we sometimes use, so it's not a big deal to us either way.

That is why I initially didn't plan on doing the interior but when the wife wants something it seems to happen.

@GTBRMC this is exactly what I have been looking for. I have been wanting to see a SX230 with the brushed with border look. It looks great! Good job!

@MOA_Chaser In areas where you have factory anti skid, the SeaDek will come up relatively easy. If you are adhering to a slick floor the removal is going to be tough.

@GTBRMC. Are you still happy with your choice on the Seadek? I think I like this look better than the faux teak and your install looks perfect. Nice job!

@JetBoatPilot. Is this brushed with border still available for the 07-09 230 series? For the 2016 group buy?

@AZDANSX230HO. Here are pics of the brushed with border if that is what you are looking for. And if Will still has it.

@96Pirate Yes we do still have the 2 color brushed with border. We found that offering all three styles on the website caused lots of confusion and many ordered their kits thinking they were getting the teak kit, but had selected the lower cost basic or border style kits. We can do whatever you like. Just make sure that you put that request in your notes when you email us.

Yes, I am very happy with it. One of my favorite mods. Wife and kids love it, too.

How’s it holding up after all these years just got mine in looking forward to installing it.

I sold boat in August 2017 and am not in contact with current owner. It was almost perfect when I sold it after nearly 3 full (Great Lakes region) seasons. I did leave about a 1/2 surface cut in one of the SeaDek pieces when I dropped the sharp edge of a 17 lb West Marine Danforth-style anchor on it. It was barely noticeable and did not propagate during the time I owned the boat. Otherwise, zero visible wear and tear. Zero.

Also, I managed to badly cut my heel on the sharp edge of the engine hatch lid once. I bled ALL over the boat. It was a huge mess. Bad enough I had to store the boat away without cleaning to deal with the cut. The next day, the dried blood came off VERY EASILY with just some Simple Green, water, and very light brushing. I was amazed.

Note: My wife has stated a number of times that the SeaDek was easily her favorite upgrade "we" did on the boat.

Thanks ! We are looking forward to getting ours in good to know it holds up well.
