It's regrettable all the way around. I was keeping emergency off time in my back pocket. I ended up with a trip that weekend. I had expected I could just get
Them to take me off it and charge vacation days. But my mom is passing and won't have those days to take off.
We will miss seeing everyone. Maybe another weekend some of you will go up!
Ok Here's my "Report". sorry it took me so long. I check out Saunders Island view and sandy beach launch, the first group of pics are from saunders.................... There were probably 20 vehicels with trailers there with plenty of room for more, There were several folks there with EZ up canopy's hanging out on the so called beach. Not bad dirt and sand mix. Several bigger boats were what looked like a sand beach on the west island. The water look to be still a bit stained. There was a sign up the other day that said "Fee Area" but i did'nt see there yesterday. Sandy beach launch. it looks to be about the same as saunders, as far as acesss there were fewer cars, still plenty of room to park under trees! There WAS a "Fee Area" sign up with a lock box. No envolpes or cards so i would just jot down you plate number and attache it to you 5 dollar bill with a rubber band, The only thing is saunders has a black top road that you will be launching off of compared to the beach at sandy beach.............. I thing we may try to put in today and ride around and have a look see, probably at saunders island view...............
These next pics are from Sandy Beach launch. I talked to ther owner wife at Buncombe yesterday also, The ramp there will open when the water level is around 630 feet after a few days to dry out. From the look of it and from what I hear, we just might be able to pull off this gathering after all.
Here are a couple of screen shots from facebook i thougt i would post.
In the second shot these two guys jet ski'ed from buncombe creek all the way to shay cut off road! I dont think im gonna try that in my yammie!
Good News, the ramp at buncome creek is OPEN. one lane only and you will have to park up on the grass area. If it is busy it will be a pain in the butt. But launch earley. Soooooo whats the plan @DCB-270 ? Im ready and waiting for the gathering, hope to see you all
