Thinking about a 2011 Tahoe or Yukon as a tow vehicle

Wife has a Tahoe version Escalade (not the suburban sized one) with a 6.2L and it does just fine. It's a little more heavy than my truck, so it rides a little better while towing too. We looked at Expeditions (as well as Durango, Jeep - didn't have 3rd row so we nix'd that, etc), when we were in the market and decided that something like a Tahoe fit her (and our boating needs) the best.

A coworker of mine (also a Waukesha resident) tows his 24 ft FourWinns with a late model Expedition4x4 and seems very happy with it. That's all I can offer on that. I've always been a GM guy, and can say with confidence the 5.3 is plenty strong to pull a 230.

Agreed on the 5.3L GM config being capable. I think it tows just as well as the 6.2L (for me at least since my 5.3 is in the truck and the 6.2 is in the SUV).

@Ronnie I think you mean a 5.4 l Triton V-8. A 5.2 l is a 32 valve DHOC used in the 2015 -16 Shelby GT350. Which would really compliment that Rolex!!

@Zarrella , you are correct and and showing my age, my memory is not what it used to be. Thanks for the reminder. I do love the way the exped tows though. If I wrecked mine or it was irreparably broken today broke today I'd be shopping for another one or a navigator (leather, DVD player, etc.) tonight. Three more thing about the expeds, they make an Eddie bower edition which I think is more like the navigator, there is slightly longer version available that is not as long as the excursion and you can pick used ones relatively inexpensively.

If you are hauling a hockey team you could look at a Chevy express 2500. I have a 2010 12 passenger with 6.0 motor and 6 speed transmission and it tows the boat great. Been through the tenneesse mountains several times and way been amazed. Only 2wd but that much less main thence and pieces to break. I have not needed 4wd yet at anytime. Just an idea for you

The 5.3L V8 with hd tow package and 3.42 ratio. Looking forward to pulling with it.
It was "GM Certified" so has 12 month bumper-bumper warranty + drivetrain warranty for about 8 months after that (5 years from original service date).

You will have no problem towing, basically same deal I got on the '13. I replaced my brakes this morning, the front driver side interior brake had worn down to the squeal indicator. I love the tahoe. Mines black with the tan leather interior.

Yes...this is the tow vehicle I have wanted since before I even had a boat. My brother has run 3 Yukon/Tahoe tow vehicles until at least 200,000 miles each (1 GMT-800, the others GMT-400), so if I get 75% of the useful life he did, I will be happy.

I have a 2002 Tahoe with 216,000 miles and so far the only thing it's needed was a front wheel bearing. It's a great truck.
