I'm looking at some used AR/SX190's and am wondering which years are affected with the timing chain issue. After doing some research it appears that it was limited to the 2010-2104 models...but it is unclear if Yamaha actually corrected it in the 2015 models.

I'd like to avoid a boat with a potential timing chain issue. There are a number of 2015's for sale in my area (CT), should I avoid this year as well?

TIA!

It was only on the 1.8l engines, and I think it was 2013-2015

It has been experienced by many years but in very minimal numbers, as you said, the timing chain components were upgraded with late build 2015 and 2016 model years forward. The highest concentration was 2015. There were very few from 2010-2014, so few that there was no recall and only a TSB for the last model year before the upgrades.

I would not even give it a thought on a 2010-2014, but budget for the upgrade kit and labor if it worries you, as the parts are available and shops are experienced with the process.
