Towing 242ES

I tow mine with the Bimini on. Most trips aren't more than 10 miles down the interstate at 60-65. When I left the dealership I asked about it and they said to just make sure the "sun roof" is zipped closed and don't worry about it. My plan is to take it off when going anywhere out of town; but for the local lake, I am just going to leave it on and inspect it routinely.

This happened to me towing back on the freeway last night. I suspected it might happen, though. I have had this top for five seasons now and have never removed it when towing on the freeway (70-75 MPH) for short distances (20 miles).

This spring I noticed some mildew growing on the bottom of it and sprayed it with a cheap mildew remover (that I learned was just bleach after I started spraying). As soon the bimini dried after rinsing the mildew remover off I could tell it was ruined. It had become paper thin and I actually poked my finger through it when re-installing. I ordered a new bimini and planned this particular trip for the day after the new one was supposed to arrive. As luck would have it, the shipment was delayed so we headed to the lake with the old top. Luckily, this didn't happen until the trip back. I'm still confident a properly installed top (that hasn't been exposed to chemicals) will stand up to short trips on the freeway and sustained highway trips at 55 MPH. I remove it for longer trips on the freeway. Five seasons is pretty good, I think. It stays installed outdoors all summer.

Yep. Easy on and off. I don't tow anywhere with mine on. As for leaving it in the sun, I leave it on all the time to keep the batteries topped off. Three years in it's holding up fine.
