Anything over an hour on the interstate I'll usually tow with the cover on, no poles, but I use pipe insulation foam instead of noodles over the windshield frame. Smaller diameter and already sliced. Also what I had laying around the garage....

Short haul no; long haul yes. I leave the tent poles in, but I put a towable partially inflated in the bow to fill the space.
