Trailer Bunks Alignment

So, I've known i needed to re-do my bunks for a while now. Boat is off trailer in slip, so now is the time and chance to do it. When looking at them and assessing the task at hand, I noticed the 2 longer, center bunks are aligned about 2 inches off from each other. One goes farther forward/back from the other? When i put them back on, should they be spaced equal or keep this off alignment set-up?

Also, without creating too much of a debate, best ideas (brands/places to order/etc) for bunk carpeting?

when I replaced my bunks they were also slightly offset, I have no idea if it is correct or not,

My mfi I had the boards even... I'm not sure why they wouldn't be unless someone replaced the boards earlier and did a poor job doing it.

I didn't read the original post correctly, mine were not offset front to back but sitting on the support off center,

I didnt think they were supposed to be. I'll adjust and make them even.

My MFI boards seem to be even. I don't see a reason why they'd be off from one side to the other. You said that they appear to be about 2" off...if it were me, I'd likely even them out in the middle and call it good.

I just did mine recently. I measured the front/back distance from the old ones, but centered them on the brackets, the old ones pretty much were.

Best place for carpet was Lowes in the USA. Unfortunately they don't sell the stuff in Lowes in Canada. For about $40, I bought enough to do it twice if you cut it right.

I used Pressure Treated and galvanized bolts. You will hear varying opinions on wood and mounting methods.

So, after further inspection, the boards are uneven, but only at the end closest to the winch. They are even on the other end. Not sure why they were not cut at even lengths, but i will make sure the new ones are the same size!!! OCD a bit...

As for materials, i read the link from @Scottintexas and believe was @Bruce redo. I dont think my local stores have spruce, but looks to be douglas fir. Not doing pressure treated based on reviews. Also, looking at staples. I dont do salt water baoting, so SS should be fine from amazon...

1/2" or 3/8"?

Carpet will be about $50 with shipping from same seller mentioned, but link doesnt work...
