I would shoot for the 7%mark 5 seems too light.
At 7 % you will still be fine no matter where you load gear and such.
Are you riding level with that big tundra?
I have 7" of front lift and 5.5" of lift in the rear. It used to sit dead level. When I get into it, she squats some. I have 4" lifted leafs from Icon out back, and a 2" shackle.. Gave me just under 6" of lift. She looks like a Carolina squatting Tahoe when the boat's hooked up LoL. I want bags, but also waiting on the 2023 Sequoia... I may sell Tun and trade my Audi on one if the MPG's are near what they're promising.
Sorry for the late response. Also sorry if I already responded. I couldn't find a response if I did. I've had a crazy couple of months. When the vehicle is unloaded it rides normally!
There’s a ton of focus on reducing tongue weight here, but ultimately if your boat is within the weight range of your tow vehicle, then being a little heavy on the tongue is safer than the opposite. Too little tongue weight causes sway.
Shorelandrs recommended weight is really low and I don’t understand why. If 10% is fine for a travel trailer what is different about a boat? The only contact points are the tires and the hitch, so what the hell does the tow vehicle or tires care about what is sitting on top of those weighted points?
I have everything out of my boat except a full tank of gas. Tongue weight is 400 lbs. That's 8%. Agree about the Shorelandr specs. No way our boats are hitting their specs. Boat tows great even at 550 lbs.
