Treating Sunburn, what do you use?

You all are going to think I'm crazy, but I swear by egg whites.

Crack an egg into bowl, throw away the yolk, and rub the egg whites on your sunburn. It takes away the sting right away, and the next day it feels like you hardly burned at all.

Try it, you'll become a believer!

O.K. - I'll bite. How long do you leave it on before you wash it off?

Personally, it makes me nuts to be covered in goopy stuff (part of the reason I sometimes "forget" my sunscreen - good thing I don't burn easy) but there comes a time when you'll try anything...

This sounds silly but been confirmed by doc, dermatologist and pharmicist. Make some regular tea then dab the cooled tea on the burn. It draws the heat out of the skin.

Best thing our family has used for sunburn is a three step process. We swear by it now..
1st-wet a very soft rag with Apple Cidar Vinegar and blot the sunburn until wet. Let completely dry..
2nd-rub organic (not pasteurized) coconut oil on the sunburn and allow to soak in.
3rd- take ibuprofen for the anti-inflammatory properties

We were told about this by our son's dr. one year when he burnt really bad. We did the aloe gel, aloe plant, aspirin, lotion, etc.
The Apple cider vinegar smells horrible and isn't pleasant to put on your face but we swear by this process now. It also speeds recovery time and how quickly the burn goes in. Just FYI, you can buy all of it at Krogers.

We use a product called Solar a Recovery.

Absolutely worth thing is to consume copious amounts alcohol. Your body needs moisture, not to be dried out more.

For searing sunburns we've always used plain unflavored yogurt. Might sound weird but it draws the heat out of the skin and cools everything off. After you get some relief, coat your skin with natural coconut oil.

Of course we usually cover ourselves with SPF swim shirts, hats, and sunblock as we know too many folks with skin cancer.

Is my wife the only one OBSESSED with any amount of peeling skin. She'll sit and pick at peeling sunburn for an hour. The bigger strips of skin, the happier she is. I find it creepy.

Reminds me of The Silence of the Lambs.....'It rubs the lotion on its skin or else it gets the hose again'

I tried tea a long time ago and as I recall it worked ... but the vinegar idea sounds like it works on the same principle.

I hate to admit it, but my current approach is hit the tanning bed slowly at the start of the season for a good base, then use decent sun screen all season. Good tan and no peeling.
