I love my Min Kota Ulterra, but it is a PITA getting it on and off the boat. Im old and fat and its heavy and awkward. I am thinking of just leaving it on the boat with a good lock on it.

I understand it is designed to be in saltwater and so it is pertty tough, but im concerned leaving it long term out in the elements. Any thoughts on that?

Mine has been on my boat for over two years. My boat is on the second level in a semi-covered stack at the marina; I do not use a cover (too much wind and trouble). I have a little lock on it, but it is really just for show. I could pull it off during the winter, but we use the boat from time to time during the winter. I use my MK as my primary anchoring device, unless I anchor off the beach (then OEM anchor and sand spike).

FWIW, my MK still looks new.
