Hey guys wanted to post about my experience with my new 2025 220 FSH Sport. I bought the boat in July and have used it primarily on the St. John’s river in the Jacksonville area. Went out on the Atlantic past the jetties with it once and had a blast fishing with the kids. Last week we took it down to Key Colony beach where I had it docked in the water for 5 days behind my Airbnb. We ended up taking the boat about 27nm down to alligator reef and sombrero reef (about 7nm) and on one of the days we went out as far as 15nm offshore to a depth of about 300ft.
The equipment I have installed on it are the min kota terrova 112lb thrust 72 inch shaft trolling motor with three 12v lithium batteries. The boat is equipped with a simrad vhf, simrad gps and fishfinder, thrust vectors, and I also have the V5 AIS EPIRB if shit hits the fan.
Overall I am beyond impressed with the design and handling of the boat offshore. The hull design combined with the broad gunwales, in my opinion, cuts through chop better than my friends twin engine center console cobia. We reached cruising speeds at 37mph with a full tank, trolling motor, 2 adults, 2 kids, a large cooler filled with ice drinks and food and a full livewell at WOT in 0.5-1ft broad swells in open water.
The pros of the boat include the sturdy and good quality hull design, ample storage room. The lounge deck provides a great platform for snorkeling and loads of room and areas to fish from.
I felt confident going offshore with this boat and I could have gone further for more serious offshore fishing but I didn’t because of time constraints and the wife and kids wanted to explore closer to shore.
The cons to the boat was the seaweed getting into the intake grates, which I ran into while trolling for mahi. I was able to dislodge it by shifting into reverse. When we got to the reefs for snorkeling I dove under the boat and cleared out additional seaweed manually. The other downside was the jet wash not working which i didn’t have time to get fixed at the dealer under warranty because they were two weeks out with servicing boats.
What I want to highlight here is that there’s a lot of trash talk about jet boats going offshore and it’s simply not true. It all boils down to hull design and Yamaha has perfected it on this model. This is a great offshore boat for those looking for a diverse platform that can accommodate multiple activities such as snorkeling and fishing.
I’m including some pictures and below, I apologize for the crappy quality because some of them are screenshots from my videos that I couldn’t upload.
