I used a 6.5"x18" piece of 1/2" aluminum plate. rounded corners and edges with a foam sanding block.

Just ordered a piece of 5/8" 6.5" x 20" to replace factory POS.. guess I will see if yamaha will fix the gelcoat if not I will fix it with some patch paste..

Got it back from Fiberglass repair today.. Moving on to fabricating the mount this afternoon..
