Guys, My boat (2019 242x) seems to crawl back in the water significantly when in the neutral position. Since the boat is fly-by-wire, the reverse buckets always open automatically when the engines are off.

I’d like to adjust the reverse buckets to aim for a more true-neutral, but not sure how to keep the buckets closed (in neutral) when the engines are off so I can inspect and adjust.

Is there an overide or a way to keep the buckets in neutral?

True Neutral is a moving target. You can adjust the reverse buckets up a little from directing water in reverse if needed. My 07 wants to wander in neutral also. I will split throttles and bump 1 just slightly forward or reverse to counter the motion and usually take that wander out. I do this a lot while in line to retrieve the boat at the ramp. I don't want a wandering boat when I am waiting in line with others on the water.

@Merlion , my boat also tends to move aft slightly with both throttle levers in the "neutral" position. This is different from my previous boat ( 16 AR240 ) as it moved slightly forward. That one was easy to adjust linkage on top of the reverse buckets as you could move them by hand to desired position . The e series is harder to access with those buckets always up.

Go behind the helm to the manual override black box bolted to the deck. Remove the cover, move the two red levers into the manual position. Go back to the buckets and now you'll be able to manually move them up and down. This allows you access to the adjustment cable. There a bunch of YouTube videos on the actual process. It's a trial and error effort, unfortunately.

What I was told when I bought the boat has been true for me: the only true neutral on these boats is turning off the engines.
