Looking at a used 2012 rxp with 75 hours my question is if the intercooler was blown at any point how can you tell and can this cause damage to the ski?

I think this question would be better placed for a response on a site like greenhulk which focuses on pwcs. I also think that maybe you are confusing the intercooler with the supercharger. As far as i know seadoo’s/brp’s supercharger issues were addressed around 2006 or 2007 so a 2012 seadoo pwc should be ok or at least not subject to the ceramic washer issues of the past. Without test riding the ski to see it performa to spec you may have to get access to the superchargers internals to determine if its blown. this is information that i read on greenhulk and there is a lot more detail on it there. Keep in mind that even if it is not blown the supercharger needs to be rebuilt every 200 hours at a diy cost of $450 if memory serves me.

Thanks for the info .I know of the super charger rebuilds and issues .but these do have a intercooler problem also .problem is it is a good buy but I can't test it right now cause of the weather

A leaky intercooler could hydrolock the engine.

I was considering a 2005 gtx with a supercharger so i looked into them but only because of the supercharger issues i read about. I didnt know they had intercooler problems as well. I ended up buying a used na fx cruiser waverunner instead so the bulk of my worries were addressed with a compression check of each cylinder. If i went with the supercharged seadoo i would have insisted on a test ride before id make my buy or pass decision.

I'm still looking but haven't found a yamaha around my area yet.i have a spark just want something faster for my 2nd ski

Usually if the intercooler starts to leak it causes the throttle body to start corroding and that creates issues with the butterfly sticking or locking up preventing it from operating properly, also check the motor mounts , the carbon seal the exhaust system hoses and all hose clamps as well as the pump bearings .
