Using a Boat Lift

No negatives that I can see... Hydrohoist (and Hot Sauce!) for the win!

Well an update.... When I intially went to check out the lifts they had 1 left, well they really didnt....
Fast forward to today...
I just got a call saying that Sept 1 they would have a lift available for my boat and its $2800 for the year. They only do 12 month contract.

I am like damn I thought it was only 1800... thats 1k more than I was expecting.... I have an old explorer I really dont like using.....

Do you guys think this is a reasonable price ? The only reason I am asking is because here in MD you cant really boat year round......

Cheers.

How many times do you use your boat? For me it's 15 or so max per season. I just don't have any more time than that. I'm sure part of that is the whole hassle of trailering and small kids, but even if you double it and say you'll use it 30 times instead of 15, that's $93 each use. I personally wouldn't leave my boat on the lift over the winter, but I know lots of people who do. I guess it really doesn't make much difference as both places it is left outside.

All that being said, $2800/year does seem like a fairly standard price in this area.

Consoidering it's 7 mins from my house.....I may not leave it on there for the winter...but March/April til October..

I need a new vehicle....for towing...it's a hassle....

Boatel California is $4500 a year !!

I would look around for a used lift. I bought a used on five years ago, making it now 8 years old and it has worked fine, in reality there is not a lot of moving/wearable parts to the typical boat lift. I have a hydrohoist and I can tell you the only parts I could see going out are the motor for the blower and the hoses. the hoses are cheap and the blower motor can be replaced through grainger. I bought a three year old one for $3,500.00. I would say that some marinas are particular about who installs what on their property. I had to pay the marina to install it for a fee. I would never pay $2,800 a year to lease a lift, that is crazy. If it was inclusive of the slip fee and the lift that maybe doable. Also I feel like lifts hold their value, a buddy sold his lift this year and got exactly what he paid for it used two years ago.

I have my own lift and slip.....electric and water included....seems to be actually reasonable...places are wanting to make money....I doubt they will let me buy a lift and let me install it lol

Love my lift. Easy to wash, wipe down at end of the day and work on. As for fueling, I use a Gas-Link I bought at the boat show 4 years ago for $130.00. Now they sell them at Home depot for $109.00. It works great on the boat and jet skis.
