How many times do you use your boat? For me it's 15 or so max per season. I just don't have any more time than that. I'm sure part of that is the whole hassle of trailering and small kids, but even if you double it and say you'll use it 30 times instead of 15, that's $93 each use. I personally wouldn't leave my boat on the lift over the winter, but I know lots of people who do. I guess it really doesn't make much difference as both places it is left outside.
All that being said, $2800/year does seem like a fairly standard price in this area.
I would look around for a used lift. I bought a used on five years ago, making it now 8 years old and it has worked fine, in reality there is not a lot of moving/wearable parts to the typical boat lift. I have a hydrohoist and I can tell you the only parts I could see going out are the motor for the blower and the hoses. the hoses are cheap and the blower motor can be replaced through grainger. I bought a three year old one for $3,500.00. I would say that some marinas are particular about who installs what on their property. I had to pay the marina to install it for a fee. I would never pay $2,800 a year to lease a lift, that is crazy. If it was inclusive of the slip fee and the lift that maybe doable. Also I feel like lifts hold their value, a buddy sold his lift this year and got exactly what he paid for it used two years ago.
Love my lift. Easy to wash, wipe down at end of the day and work on. As for fueling, I use a Gas-Link I bought at the boat show 4 years ago for $130.00. Now they sell them at Home depot for $109.00. It works great on the boat and jet skis.
Hate to bump an old thread but I got a good deal from a fella that wanted out. $600 bucks until the end of April for his lift and slip. Includes water and electric then April 30 I take over and it's $2500 a year. It's 7 mins from my house. I can't beat it !!!
