We have owned fish/ski boats in the past and kneeboard,Wake board and tubed never wake surfed . We just purchased a Scarab 165 and was looking for a tube and ropes when I happen to see this device and wondered if anyone tried something similar on a smaller jet boat and if it would even work without the weight of a ballast boat ?

does not work on a jet boat. The drag created causes you to countersteer which points the jet right at your wave. You need scarabs surf stream add on or similar design

I have seen guys use one of these on a jet ski and surfed behind it. If your boat is not Dual motor there is less problem with your jet wash ruining the wake. I personally have no experience. But on the Jet ski they actually placed it on the bottom not the side.

Agreed - we have tried using a wake surf shaper but have seen limited benefit on our Scarab 215 (dual BRP Rotax 200s). Trying to figure out how to mimic a DIY/after market version of the surf stream tab (Wake Blast option) that Scarab has available (recently saw some mounted on a 255 at the Milwaukee Boat Show and shot some video footage:
or duplicate what Yamaha is doing on some of their newer jet boats with a tab that comes down to direct water at the jet spray to create a better surfing wake.
