***WARNING*** 2015-18 YAMAHA “AR” BOAT OWNERS WITH FORWARD SWEPT WAKEBOARD TOWERS

I have the screw knobs and will have to check frequently. Those other "quick release" pins on the 212 and 240 series seem like they could have even a bigger issue with releasing. I would definitely do the fix by @wallacerb

Pin on my 242 has never even rotated a degree, let alone risk backing out.

I will have to look at this again, but one issue with a cross pin in the AR240 tower is that there is very little material on the sides of the tower frame/bottom - the part that goes over/around the base block.
That said, it s still something if just a backup.

My port side pin is constantly rotating 180 degrees during use, but never backed out, thankfully. This is the first time I saw this thread, how traumatic. I remember having the dealer tighten up my tower when I had the boat serviced at 10 hours. The tower would make terrible creaks/ moans when underway at WOT or over just a little chop. Since having them tighten up the tower to hull mounts, I haven't had much noise just a lot of checking the pin each time I stop, or occasionally while underway. Somewhere along the way it became a subconscious check that my mate and I do multiple times per outing. I hope to never hear of another tower collapse on these boats. I'm thankful @swatski and family was not seriously injured.
