If anyone is planning to run this just a couple notes for you as we did it yesterday. There are no docks in at starved rock. Makes it a bit more difficult but we handled it. For get stopping in Peoria for lunch. We travelled a couple miles further and ate at Kuchies on the Water. Boat docking and great food. We also stopped in Peru at South Shore Boat Club and has some great ribs. We saw them smoking meat when we started the journey! It’s a beautiful trip and we had incredible weather. Any other questions for those looking to make the trip maybe I can help!

Cool maybe next summer

Yikes. Without the dock and that amount of current right there it will be a handful. Any further than Peoria and it will mean a definite refuel for all our boats. But most stop anyway. What is the water level right now? The rivers up north are all closed due to the rain we have received.

Yes it’s a challenge but do able. The wife can’t back the trailer and the current scared her away from putting the boat on the trailer. A couple bumps towards shore dropping me on and off and we got it done. Just be careful! The ramp that looks like 2 open lanes, it will be the 1st set when you pull into the lot, it has a set of under water concrete walls about 1 1/2’ tall. Go to the next set of ramps or just beware that those walls are there!
The Illinois river is low. Your fine until you hit the Peoria lakes. Stay in the channel. Just creeping outside the markers I would find myself in a couple feet of water. I’m forgetting the marina name we stopped at for fuel. Its the only one on your starboard side when heading back up after leaving Peoria. They have white ball bouts. Follow them into the marina. After stopping at the restaurant For lunch we refueled and topping off was 35 gallons. We ran full throttle. Was hitting 45 miles and hour with the current. Coming back up could only hit 41/42. I would totally recommend going the extra couple miles to Kuchies on the water. Depending on the size of the group. Looked like a dozen boats could dock. Would give them a call to confirm. Their food and service was excellent.

We stopped at Kuchies as a group 2 years ago. They gave us all floating keychains and the food was good, as I recall.
