What do you use the "storage" area in the wall next to co-pilot seat for? ('18 242)

My '18 242x-e has a black gloss indented area in the side next to the co-pilot chair. Seems like this is partly for room for the chair to rotate but there are clips toward the bottom that may be for a black net I found in the head compartment. What is this typically used for?

I think the net is to hold a garbage can or garbage bag.

we put a trash can there.....but might copy @Sotally Tober , he has pics of a yeti backflip 24 cooler fitting there like a glove

Speaking of coolers, I'm buying a 242, do you think my RTIC 65 would fit in the head/compartment area?

This mod has been confirmed and works flawlessly. Been out on the river for the past 8 days and it fits like a glove. Just make sure you rig up some bungees to secure it.

Pure genius, going to Cabela’s to look at one later.

I had a custom piece of SeaDek cut from jetboatpilot for the bottom as well.IMG_4171.jpegIMG_4169.jpegIMG_4168.jpeg

Done, can’t wait to get it on the boat.

The space on my 2015 242 Limited S should be the same dimensions as @Sotally Tober right?

LOVE IT!!! I'm gonna show my wife this due to the fact that we might as well be a Yeti ambassador (not by her design and she gives me poop)!! Yes their products cost an arm and a leg but they F'n Last and they will last you a lifetime. I have one of the oringal Hoppers from almost 7 years ago and it truly is a beast till this day with no leaking.

I didn't go into detail about how I rigged up the bungies for the backflip on the 242, but I just adapted really thick zip ties to the existing hooks and created the loops for the bungies. If you contact @JetBoatPilot they can cut you a piece of SeaDek to place on the deck of that area. It will prevent scratching and prevent the bottom from slipping.

I'm glad someone picked up on this mod!

Dimensions should be the same. Another tip: Get the 4lb yeti ice to place on the bottom. It fits perfectly and makes a HUGE difference with ice retention.

My girlfriend bought a Yeti Tundra 35 for us for Christmas so I'm firmly on the Yeti train. :) I think that I bought the same, or similar, bungees as you did so I should be good.

I've already messaged JBP about the custom SeaDek piece and will pick up the 4lb Yeti ice. Thanks for the tips!!

does the tundra 35 fit in that space?

I just took a look on the Yeti website and I don't think it will. The Backflip 24 fits like a glove in that area and there isn't any more room for extra width. Plus... I personally wouldn't bring a hard sided cooler on board. Soft sided is the way to go in order to prevent damage.

I looked at that ~8.x inches of depth and was thinking the same way but if @WiskyDan figured out a way or was having success in some other area I was curious.

I have to figure out where we’re gonna put the Tundra 35 - maybe at the nose of the bow. I think that we will use the Backflip 24 on most occasions but my girlfriend likes to bring food when we entertain so I’m guessing that the Tundra will be used for those occasions.

We use this soft chest with a plastic liner in the starboard compartment behind the captains chair. Most ice chests are too tall or deep for these compartments but this one fits pretty well. It opens and closes quickly and pretty snug with a Velcro tab. It’s rated for 58 cans (I’d guess 35 quarts).
It actually keeps ice all day and usually has ice the next morning. I’m sure yeti could do better but comparable stuff uses the zipper....and I’m way too impatient to work those zippers to grab a drink.
