This is what I found:

Blanking Plugs for Transducers with Removable Inserts

A blanking plug is designed to be used in a transducer housing when the active insert has been removed for storage or cleaning.

We keep ours on the boat, in the bilge next to the transducer, in case the transducer springs a leak or needs repair. We also keep a bag of assorted wooden bungs and a hammer in case any of the other thru hull fittings, valves break or leak on the Beneteau.

This is a pic of my bilge when we were installing a Raymarine RV-200 thru hull transducer. You can see two blanking plugs and a wooden bung. I leave them there so I dont have to look for them if/when I need them.
