I found this spot on the hull of my 2010 242. Its under the port side engine. Looks like more than just a scrape. Any ideas? Maybe heat from the engine and or a hot oil dripping down from above? Initially I thought it was just where I got hung up on a sand bar or maybe a reef at some point but it looks too symmetrical like more than just a scrape. Is the dark color maybe just the fiberglass resin and something has caused the gel coat to rub away. Hoping someone has seen this before.

Looks like you scrape a rock or coral and now its oxidating. You need to fix this asap.

what do you mean by oxidating? That makes me think of oxidizing of gel coat or paint where a fine layer of oxidation occurs on the surface but this seems more serious.

Whatever it’s from it needs repaired soon due to being bare fiberglass.

I initially thought bunk wear mark, but your boat is on the trailer and that looks a good distance from the bunk.

I would have a professional look at it, just to be safe.
