To me, it's a simple answer.
To wit, MOST every thing in life (including our government @!) can be answered by three simple (and very DANGEROUS) words:

Ya might wanna keep this simple Truth in mind ........
and never, ever, forget where ya got it !

You're absolutely right @MikeyL, especially when it comes to the government.

Another item to consider in the synthetic Mobil oil world.
Mobil-1 also makes a 4 stroke motorcycle oil.
I would guess has additional additives for higher continuous RPM operation.
Many of the Yamaha boats use the MR-1 motor, which is a motorcycle similar motor.
Boats also generally operate frequently at higher sustained RPM's compared to how our car engines operate.

I was wondering if anyone used the 4t oil... I was going to purchase that for my oil change, but nobody said to be using it, so I just went with Mobil 1 Synthetic....

I would recommend against that. They specifically lack friction modifiers (things like zinc additives) because they are bad for motorcycles with a wet clutch.. We don't have that issue. In our application, I think you would rather have the friction reducers.

With the oil filter be careful what you use. there was a thread that mentioned the the yamaha motors and oil filters are a metric thread. Many filters are standard thread and will work. I used Mobil-1 oil filters for 2 years, as several other people do, but they do not have the correct metric threads.

Another vote for Yamalube and Yamaha filters. What has always been used by me and previous owner. So far, no problems.

I use the 0W40 euro mobil 1 with K&N 303 filters. The engines run very smooth with the 0W40. Cam.

Why is this even a question? The specs are right there in the owners manual. Use the Yamalube 10W-30. Sure you can use oil with the same specs but the Yamalube has anti-moisture additive and why screw around and tempt fate? Spend the extra few $$, its cheaper than an engine rebuild! And while we're on the subject, Buy and use the Yamaha Ring Free fuel additive. The manual recommends it. It's expensive but you only use 1 oz. per ten gallons of fuel. I've actually heard people whine about the price and look for a cheaper additive. I say, if that's the case then you can't afford the boat, period.
