When I switch on the battery, the Tachometers go back and forth and the engine lights blink red. Ignition switches won’t turn on. Any ideas?

Radio, blower and nav lights all work, connect and ignition switches do not. All was fine until i installed second battery after being out of boat charging. Did i short something out? Checked fuses, all looked good but cant tell with the 3 large relays.

Unfortunately it sounds you fried the connext screen. They are very sensitive to voltage spikes.

Since you were doing some electrical work... I would suggest ensuring all grounds are reconnected. Some electronic equipment use ground as a reference for zero... I doubt that's what's happening here but in the off chance it is... Confirm all grounds are back to the battery and no black wires were missed when reconnecting to battery.

A long shot but something to try.

I’ll double check this evening, thank you

Man I hope not…
Had this happen to my previous boat...the tach's would just sweep back and forth and connext would not power up. once the connext was replaced, tachs worked normally again. boat should still fire up and work normally though (minus the connext screen and ability to monitor fuel/rpm's/error codes etc).

Sounds like you left a ground disconnected when swapping batteries. Are both batteries grounded to each other?

Yes. And to make matters worse, there are no replacements anywhere. I have called customer service to no avail. I've learned a lot about Yamaha in the last week. Apparently they've had problems with with screens through the 2020 models and replacements have been extremely hard to find. It's a shame, I've been rally happy with this boat. Now a small piece of electronics has rendered it useless. Shame on Yamaha.

Do you have any other losses beyond tachometer display? Do the other functions work?

The entire Connext screen is down and the dealer said it needs to be relaced. There aren't any t be found anywhere. I have a call into Yamaha.
