Just got a 2014 242 limited S and I love it. I am coming from a 2015 AR190. I have looked through a ton of the stereo upgrade threads and they have been helpful. I think for now I am just going to add an amp to the Polk speakers I have. I would also love to disconnect the horrible tweaters in the tower.

Can somebody help me with the actual wiring. How hard is it to just add an amp? How hard is it to disconnect those tweaters?

I just finished adding an amp to our 242 limited- no tower. Did tons of research and ended up with a kicker 800 watt class d marine amp. I also added helm speakers and a sub. You will have to run a power and ground wire from the battery to the new amp, don't go cheap with these- knuconcept sells nice wire. If your installing the amp at the helm you will need about 24 ft. if you run it around the engine bay. I ran new speaker wire for all my speakers since yamaha runs the cabin and swimdeck speakers in series. You can use the wires as they are or splice wires to run speakers parallel if you choose (knuconcept sells speaker wire that is nice but difficult to work with.So basically power and ground to the amp, rca's to the rca's outputs at the connex- they are labled front and rear- and all speakers to the amp. Use the search function and ask for help as you go- I've got about twelve hours into the install- some maybe faster but I took my time. Good luck- best thing I did for the boat except for the thrust vectors. John
