Here are some pictures. As you can see, you CANNOT see the led's from normal eye level whether seated or standing..you can see them obviously when squatted down. I placed them directly under the bottom of the cushions. this gives maximum brightness and the full effect of the led's. As far as the connectors the one pic is how the whole setup is wired, simply connect and go....you can connect as many led strips side by side OR you can do one, then an extension cable then another one. Any combo you want basically. I have back to back led's in some areas and single led's in another.

Has anyone ever used these products. There kits seem decent. You do not have to do any soldering and all connections and extensions between lights are by simply plugging each extension cord into another. Saving a lot time and hassle. Also if anyone is interested they have a 10percent off coupon code right now advertised on the sight.

www.xkglow.com
Do you remember what the code was? I don't see it on the website and was going to buy the same kit. Figure I would try and use the code you used to see if it would work.

It was a 10percent off code for fathers day...save me 24 dollars. doesn't appear to be on the website anymore.. I just found this one though xglow5off not sure if you need CAPS or not ...found it on www.retailmenot.com they also have a referral program so if you get anyone you know to buy a kit from them and refer you, you get 7 percent refunded up to the total purchase price...not a bad gig

Is that controller capable of handling more than one zone?

Slick looking system, by the way. The smartphone app is a HUGE leap forward in these types of systems.

@geiger41

Now that you have had your XKGlow kit for a whole season, do you still recommend? I may do this late this winter (to replace my LEDGLOW kit that never really worked as I wanted). Thanks for any input you have.

I also have the XKGlow system 18 strips and wifi controller now for a couple years and have no issues. I've wrapped a few of the connectors with waterproof tape.
The family loves it. I really like it at night when boating as it insures we are seen!

I have a few questions...

If it's so bright you need a dimmer...how many strips would you recommend for a 24 (no tower)?

Any info on the LED cupholders/installation would be great. Thanks!!!

When I get home, I will offer a few links about how I have done cupholders. I put the waterproof LED strips around the bottom of the interior of the cupholder. It gives great indirect reflected lighting.

LEDS are very bright. I would use less than full spool(16') in a 24' boat but your still going to want to have a controller that will change colors and dim them. RGB is the only way to go IMO

Here is my indirect light setup in the cup holders. Too me it is just right. Less then 16 ft used. They are also 5050 rgb.

I did my cupholders like this, with the waterproof RGB inserted down in the bottom of the cupholder...totally waterproof. I intend to do this again on the new boat and not do the speaker rings. Just too much light in the boat with the speakers too.

It isn't dark outside in this pic, and the lights are dimmed all the way. I bought zone controllers this time around and will be able to have about 4 zones so all lights won't be on at once...unless that is what I want. Any color in the rainbow is at my touch with RGB lighting.

@billyb ... don't know if this helps but as you can see in my avatar, that is four strips (these are not the XKGlows, just led strips I ordered off Amazon) One in each corner of the bow and one in each corner of the stern. I also replaced the white courtesy lights with blue led bulbs. I have the led strips on two separate switches so I can leave the stern lights on and the bow lights off if under way. It was really easy to run everything, just time and patience along with a few cold, adult beverages. :)

@geiger41 and @cep022 a couple of questions:

1. What size hole did you need to drill to pass the wires and connectors from compartment to compartment?
2. How do you take the side cushions off?

Thanks

If you're somewhat local my buddy runs Ledpowersports.com and he sells these kits plus does installs if you don't want to do it. The installs are onsite so he comes to you so you don't have to leave your boat or bike anywhere. Tell him I sent you and you want a better deal!
