In another week I pick up my new AR250 which comes with a one year YES warranty as part of the deal. Not sure if thats the manufacturer warranty or this YES is after that. He also wants to sell me a 5 year YES warranty for $2500. So, is that worth it? The boat will never see salt water.
No, currently they can’t get any parts, everything is on back order. Save your money, obviously my opinion.

There is no 5 Year Yes Warranty. First Year is Manufacturer warranty, then you can extend for 4 years. All things being equal you can purchase the warranty for at least the same amount before your first year is over. At least it give you a year to think about it.

Whelp my time is coming up, and I thought I'd update everyone. I am one month out from my warranty expiring and I just received what will probably be my last piece of mail asking me to buy the Yamaha YES warranty. I did not get any sort of discount the warranty still stands at 1 Year: $1,100... 2 Years $1,450... 3 Years $1,750... & 4 Years $2,000. It's hard to say how many more problems I will expect to have with this boat, had I needed it this year it would have been worth it. However who knows if I'll ever have to bring it back, its like a gambling who will hold the better hand at the end of the term.

You summed it up perfectly at the end of your comments. I purchased YES before our one year warranty expired. As with all warranties they are only as good as the companies behind them. The one year plus an additional four years provides some comfort assuming the dealer you use is honorable. The dealer we use is decent. They provided us a new seat cushion that the snap separated from the leather with no questions asked. Although Yamaha boats have decent reliability, I figured with the electronics I might need coverage at least once and one replacement would cover the costs of the warranty. As your stated, no perfect answer with any insurance. Just like a casino. They bet on their product and often defend even when it fails and we try and hedge our bets.

I bought my 2021 212XD lightly used with less than 50hrs on it. When I purchased it, it was only about 6months old. The seller didn't even tell me that he purchased a 4 yr Y.E.S. warranty. I found out after I purchased the boat when I found his bill of sale from the dealer. I have used it twice. Once to cover the transducer that failed. (an $800 part plus labor). They also covered the stereo control that failed on the transom. (although I think I got lucky that they covered that because it is normally something that is excluded).

I usually don't buy extended warranties, but with these boats, it only takes a couple things to go wrong to get your money back. If anything else fails in the next couple years, it will be worth having. If nothing fails....well, I will just be happy!
