Yamaha Engine sound.

Isn't that kinda like saying "will you take a selfie of me"? Do you have an issue with a motor or jet drive?

Lol. Not you just your boat. Not used to jet boats. My motor is making a kind of rattle noise at idle. I wanted to know it that’s normal. My boat has 100 hours no the motor. No lose of power. Is Supercharged. Doesn’t vibrate.

Is this just loud when running the engine out of the water or all the time? The jets tend to rattle when running on the trailer while flushing the engine. If its loud all the time it could be the impeller contacting the wear ring.

Mine sounds very loud at idle, to the point I wonder what this quiet cruise nonsense is. I can hear the thing at the top of the ramp when I’m walking to get the trailer. There is a ton of vibration as well. I was going to look in the cones this weekend, having read some posts on that issue. No clue where to go from there.

As mentioned on your previous engine sound thread, it sounds normal. Just go on YouTube and search Yamaha fx cruiser sho engine sound or SVHO and you'll see they all sound like that. It's the supercharger clutch you're hearing if you're referring to the chirpy kind of rattle chirp sound.

Disregard the aftermarket blow-off sounds with these but you can hear the engine and supercharger.

Drive it and stop worrying about it.
It sounds just fine
If you think your supercharger clutch is going, pull the intake boot and make sure the impeller only spins freely one way.

Yup drive it. Checking for clutch play is simple so like mentioned if you’re worried check it. Lots of info in the 19’ section.

I will check the supercharger, if it only spins freely one way I will leave this alone and enjoy this boat. Thanks for all your help.

My dampener clutch on my super charger went bad. It felt like a rev limiter at random times

The best description I have seen on this forum on how the 1.8L Yamaha engines sound with the hatch open goes something like...

“Sounds like there’s some marbles in the engine!...”
