Yamalube VS Mobil 1 oil

I'll just go with what's recommended. Not saying it's the best, but I know it meets the spec's so one less thing to worry about! Hell, I can't even get all the old out during "changes" - that takes some getting used to.

I didn't want to clog this thread but you might be interested in this one.

Short answer is Amsoil is fine as would M1 most likely be as well as would Shell Rotella T6.

Idk if the Yamalube warranty is B.S. or not, but in my mind if I follow the program and have a bearing failure, there’s a chance they’ll take care of it vs. if I don’t it’s DEFINITELY not covered at all.
Sure. But, damage due to freezing, overheat, or fluid contamination (e.g. with water in oil) is EXCLUDED from coverage...

That's why I said it's "gimmicky".

Honestly Yamaha seems to make fairly robust and well built (mechanically) engines and my guess is I’ll be done with this boat long before the engine wears out.
Those were my "famous last words"...
...before "low oil" alarm went off in the middle of the river and I pulled a milkshake covered oil stick, lol.

What was the verdict? Water from head, block, or oil cooler? Sorry if I missed that.

Oh man - that wore me out reading about it. Hope it turns around for you soon.

Right I totally get it, I’ve read the details. What I’m saying is let’s say you spin a bearing, no fluid contamination, overheat, or freezing. Is Mobil 1 going to repair the engine? My point is is I have 0 chance with Mobil 1, even if the chance of Yamaha covering it is 1/1,000,000 that’s better than 0.

Yamalube no questions.
What would be the reason not to use the manufacturer recommended oil that is specifically designed, verified, and validated for use in this application?

That’s how I feel but to each their own.

I had the same approach to their oil and filters until they switched the filters' manufacturer and their Yamaha branded filters' filtering medium started to resemble a FRAM paper special, lol, that was about 5-6 years ago, no longer "Made in Japan", w/metal thinner than a soda can... No, thank you - terrible quality (same premium price).

To me that kind of illustrated the approach w/nothing there about quality. Same with their other Yamaha branded products, it's all generic stuff, "special" Yamaha pump grease is a good example - can buy the same exact Yamaha formula for $50 for a 50 gal drum, lol, and I kid you not.

Is the Yamalube oil any different? - I think not. Based on what I have read over the years, its just generic, conventional oil. Nothing special, and nothing wrong with that either, by the way. Other than there are way better products at those prices.

My own current miserable experience with the milkshake oil made me rather fond of Amsoil, so far. I don;t care for the Amsoil marketing scheme but whatever, easy to get, and their oil and filters are great quality.

Off topic but I find Lauren Holly so dang hot....

Question, I have unused left over Yamalube motor oil from 2017 (2 liters) and 2018 (2 Liters), would you use it ?

Yes I have 10 year old oil in my garage it works fine. New unused oil correct?
Yes unused , I read 5 years is typical shelf life, kept in a dark stable environment, I have 2 half gallons left over from two oil changes since I typically use 6 liters of two 4 liter containers for the two engines.
