Getting ready to close on a left over 2016 Limited 242S on Friday. I am waffling back and forth on the 2K rebate and the 5 year warranty as on the 24 ft boats you can choose btw the two. I know most folks would choose the 2K on here but I have a question. How long do you have to buy the warranty after you buy the boat and can you buy the warranty from another dealer instead of the one you bought from? I have been going back and forth on price with this dealer and he will only offer list price on the warranty which is something like 2500 for 4 years. I know I am paying more vs driving out of town but its worth it to me to stay local vs dealing with an out of town dealer.

My thought was to take the 2K and if I have time to buy the warranty after I buy it I could see if I have any issues pop up this summer - if so I may just buy the warranty later. If I can buy from another dealer does anyone know of any dealers that sell the warranty for less then retail?

I was told you have until the original factory warranty (1 year) expires to purchase the extended warranty. You can buy from any dealer, but dont know about prices.

I believe you can purchase YES anytime while the original 1-year warranty is in place.

Depending on the boat you end up purchasing, you may want the YES. if it's an E-Series with newer electronics it may be worth it. When I purchased mine, it came with the YES, and I ended up having to use it on about year 2 or 3 for something. While shopping for the new boat, the price of a 5-year YES was about $2500 or so...
