I’m a wuss when it comes to cold water so mid to high 70’s in warm air is my threshold. If I had a wet suit I could pee in to help me stay warm I’d probably try lower temps. Problem is I don’t have a wet suit physique :D

High 60's long as it's warm (80's) and sunny. That's typically sometime in June for Lake St. Clair waters.. Will stay in longer when the water gets up into the mid/upper 70's. This year will be the first time I've had a lake/sea water temp sensor on a boat so will be interesting to see what it reads and how the lake actually feels compared to the buoy readings I've always relied upon in the past.

The OP did not say anything about wetsuits or not!
Without a wetsuit, it has got to be in the 60s for me.

Play in kayaks and row (in the waters of NC) year-round, but below a 50 degree water temp, I crack out the wetsuit.

Below 70 - Call the Coast Guard I'm going into hypothermic shock.

70 - 80 up to my knees.

Above 80 if my boys are gonna get wet.

Christ, I haven't worn a wet suit since I rafted the New river some 20ish years ago.. I imagine trying to get into a wet suit these days would be kinda like this..

I figured everyone would have different threshholds. Growing up in Seattle I would get into the water mid 60s in Puget sound. 63 degree water temp was "swim water".
As I've gotten older and moved south I feel like it warms up quick enough that I dont have to subject myself to those temps anymore

It is all about the shrivel factor...upper 60's for me. Only above knees while launch/retrieve in anything lower.

Portage Canal, basically Lake Superior, in March, a week after the ice moved out. So I’d say roughly 35 degrees.

I’ve never minded cold water, I’ll pretty much be in the water anytime it isn’t frozen. The best is a cool late September day when the water is warmer than the air.

As long as I don't see any of these, we're good. But mid 70's and warm... Which might be mid July if this damn winter doesn't end.

Very high 70s to low 80s. Anything other than that and I'll be happy to just stay on the boat and straighten things up or measure for the next project!

Depends on if it is hot out, 75air with water in the 60's: no thanks. 95air with low/mid 70's: sure. 110air with mid to high 70's: you can't get me out of the water. Where I am, spring swimming is usually rough, water won't become inviting until late May, but in the fall it will stay nice to the end of October.

I take my Superjet to the surf starting in April so around low 40's. I have a schedule.. haha

40s - March to early May - 5/3mm hooded wet suit with 7mm boots
50s - May - 2mm overall with 2mm coat
60s - June - 2mm overall, still bring my coat if the air is cold
70s - July + August - no wet suit

all down hill from there.. I think I need to move South

I go by the shrinkage factor charts. If the shrinkage factor is above 5, I won't go in. Because above 5 makes me sound like a little girl when I get out.
