The thick versions of the ZUP boards are really easy to use because they are so buoyant and stable. The dual handle rope is also nice as riders don’t have to worry about pinching their fingers between the handle and tow hook, the upper handle gives newbies a place to practice holding the handle before it is actually off the hook. The other nice part about the dual handle is that it fits within the width of the ZUP boards side handles whereas a lot of my wake board and kneee board handles do not fit (they are to long to fit between the ZUP handles while installed in the tow hook).

The sportier versions of the ZUP like the do more and Omnia by jobe are thinner, less buoyant more responsive to rider input and a lot less forgiving.

Both boards have a place and fans on my boat.

Ill have to look into this. we typically start people out on the rotomolded knee board. its buoyant and is pretty easy and forgiving with the hook for the rope, but I think this will work well for the kids.

did you say the rope came with it?

Rope is separate, but I think they have a kit that includes it. I bought mine from Zup.com, but I think they are available everywhere now.

I just ordered one. These things are pricey!

Pricey but worth it to get otherwise reluctant people to try the ZUP.

We used to start people on kneeboards with built in hooks and retractable fins. I also tried to build my own ZUP from a knee board that I added water ski bindings to. The zups are longer, wider and thicker than the knee boards. As a result my son was able to stand on the our home built sup but I was not (too tall and/or too heavy to make the transition from kneeling to standing).

They are but well worth it. The second time we took the board out that's what everybody did for about five and a half hours. We were having so much fun we burnt 40 gallons of fuel.

Thanks for the tip on the zup. First time really using it today and it was a smash hit with the kids. Even my 5 year old got in on the fun. He was too afraid to try anything but the tube before today.
