@drewkaree Well I took your advice and got me a PerfecDraw & a PerfecPak accessory case. Used it on the Bahia and what a difference! Thanks for telling me about this tool!View attachment 219063View attachment 219064
I've used trim screws before, and golf tees out on the course, but that PerfecDraw is some sort of cigar voodoo witch doctor stuff - takes enough out without feeling like I'm going to crack a wrapper, or it allows easy reinsertion, and it actually removes tobacco, instead of just pushing a hole in there.

I feel like the person drawing blood, I can sometimes feel just where the plug is when it's inserted, and it's pretty dang effective. I only wish I would have grabbed a few more when I initially purchased them on sale, as I could have gotten $5 off with a bulk purchase. For what it cost me, and the smokes it's saved, mine have at least paid for themselves at this point. The LFD's are the most egregious, and at $5-8+ each, they would have been a great smoke that I'd have passed over with the often-crappy draw.

If you have a smoke that's stellar, or you just want a bit more before you put it down, that makes a great holder to nub your smoke, as well

It's been a bit since I had a Bueso Genesis, shown above, and I don't know why I forgot about the overwhelming pepper on the initial light, but that reminder comes fast, and right between the eyes! It's been a 0-60 start to the "summer season" here in WI, and I haven't even picked up the boat yet, so today was a welcome respite. Golf League started up last week, updating the plumbing, finishing up a project so I can add 4 more... It was nice to sit back and relax, I was able to respond to @FSH 210 Sport and look at some of the threads on here that I've been picking his brain on (really, just reading his responses), and I was also able to send off a package to @CigarJeff68 so I could share a 'virtual smoke' with a friend.

Hope you guys have a great weekend, and perhaps a chance for a smoke and some downtime.

Jeff, early next week was the update on when your package should arrive. Come back to this post, it'll prove useful 😉

@drewkaree So as I watch my cigar supply dwindle as the weather is nicer and my smoking increases, your last few posts have inspired me to go outside my comfort zone of only purchasing cigars I have tried in the past. So this morning I have loaded a multiple "new" to me cigars to try. Here is my cart so far...

Will let you know when the package arrives and I am definitely looking forward to our 'virtual smoke' together.

@CigarJeff68 I gotta spoil the surprise before you place your order, just in case you want to explore another, and were on the fence - I sent you a Genesis robusto 😁

I could have added the Nub Connecticut as well, had I known, but I think you'll be happy with that one. I find that to be a nice morning coffee kind of smoke.

You have a nice selection there, I also sometimes have a hard time choosing a "new" smoke. My sons enjoy shopping for birthday/holidays and buying me samples of stuff I've never tried, so that forces my hand a little bit. Some of the selections they've gotten would have NEVER been a selection of mine for one reason or other, but turned out to be a stellar choice!

The best example of this was an Asylum cigar, I think it was a 33. The ring gauge was a 70, and was ridiculously huge. The size was why I'd have never tried it, and I didn't even have a cutter for the thing, so I went with a punch cut (several, actually) to be able to smoke it. It was so good, that's the reason I bought that 75 gauge cutter you see in that pic 😄. I've since tried other Asylum's, and although they're not as flashy with their visual marketing, they make great smokes - something I never would have tried without their gift.

Hope to hear your reports on your purchases, I've had the Diesel and the Oliva, but the rest are new to me as well.

Now that my "morning" has started, it's off to the races trying to get things in place to finish a project once help arrives, and the rain holds off!

@drewkaree Package received! Thank you so much for the 'starter pack' it was way more than I expected or possibly deserved. The cigars are going to be put to use tonight (well at least 2 of them), we are going to some friends house for dinner and drinks, I will be bringing along the cigars. I did pull the trigger on the shopping cart I posted, so when I receive them I will be reporting on them and I'm sure that there will be a few coming your way as a thank you.

I will be starting my pipe journey soon, possibly tomorrow evening if all goes well, and will keep you updated on how that goes!

Waiting for the rain to clear, and enjoying a nice afternoon smoke. These 20th anniversary sun grown Perdomo's are quite good, but sometimes a bit hard to come by. The Total Wine sun grown sampler has been the most reliable way for me to obtain one. I would deem it to be at least 10-pack worthy if the price is right ($70-90 IMO)

Another weekend away from the boat, taking care of some much-needed things on the home front. I have several choices with the weather, and where I can smoke during the summer months, but today, in an effort to tame or overpower the paint fumes from some trim I'm hoping to install Saturday or Sunday, I decided to smoke in the workshop. Yes, I'm able to smoke indoors at home. I've got a decent fan setup, feeding directly outdoors, but I've just gotta move some junk around to make a spot to stick my chair at the moment, as my house is in definite disarray LOL Still, it works for me, and I have some friends who are envious of my setup and situation in the winter months, although it's been more than a while since I've been able to host a get-together for our group.

Today's smoke is courtesty of @CigarJeff68, a Rocky Patel Prohibition Broadleaf. I'm a bit mad at the results of any of my cutters lately, and I'm not sure if it's just a weird time for the humidity in my area, or if I should be using a punch cutter, or just letting my smokes sit, unhumidified, for a day or two prior to smoking them. In no way was the condition I received them a problem, as this has happened to my own smokes. I've been lucky that I've been able to smoke every split cigar, so it's definitely humidity related, as they haven't unraveled any further beyond the initial cut of the cap. I'm gonna switch to a V-cut and see if that helps out, as I know a punch cut is perfectly fine, so if the V-cut stops the splits, I'll at least have another option.

This was a stellar smoke. Reminds me of a Rocky Patel The Edge, only with some different flavors and smoking characteristics. It's hard to beat any version of The Edge, but the Prohibition Broadleaf would be a dynamite change of pace. For those of you old enough, you'll remember making chocolate milk and the creation of a syrup wasn't an option, unless you were allowed the treat of punching open a can (yes, a CAN!) of Hershey's chocolate syrup. There were 2 types, Nestle Quick, and Hershey's Chocolate (powder). My family wasn't brand loyal to either, but if I was ever asked, I was a Hershey's fan. The "darker" flavor was just so much more rich, to me, and to this day, my palate leans towards the deeper, darker flavors that I tend to look for in a smoke as well.

Throughout this cigar, I was reminded of the flavor of the Hershey's powder, as a kid, I'd sneak a taste of the powder straight from the can. To some, this may sound like dry garbage, but to those old enough to have had the experience, you'll know the nostalgic feeling and may be able to recall the taste to this day. There was a hint of pepper throughout the smoke as well, but just the faintest hint, and nothing to shy away from. I'm not a fan of pepper AT ALL, on food, or in my cigars, so whenever it shows up in a smoke, I cross my fingers and hope it doesn't turn into a spice-fest. This cigar delivered on that front - perfect for the amount that it had, and it never detracted from the experience. Other than a need to relight twice in the waning half, it burned absolutely perfectly. A ragged ash at all times, likely from the tobacco as well as the construction, it still never went sideways on me, which seems to happen periodically when I encounter a stick that burns like this.

All in all, this was an absolute treat, not overpowering, a steady medium strength throughout. No nicotine powerhouse, just a pleasantly agreeable cigar, and I can't thank @CigarJeff68 enough for gifting me this one. I look forward to going through the rest of the smokes he sent me, and I'll do my absolute best to relay the experiences of each. I only wish they still made these, as I could see keeping a 5-pack on hand to enjoy with friends.

Here's a shot of the "home setup", as you can see, there's some construction going on, and I wasn't going to make much more of an effort to clean up once I cleared a space to sit down and light up. The other pic is the split that happened right after I cut the cap. This has happened at the lake house to several of my smokes lately, and I just chalked it up to being close enough to the lake, and the wide changes in daytime/nighttime weather, but in looking at my hygrometer, it's fairly humid here too. I have NO idea how you guys in the southern states are able to keep cigars smokeable, but maybe your area is more stable, even with the more humid environment.

Well well well, the cigar gods have smiled upon me again!

This weekend, there's a sale going on. Go here and check it out, there's awesome deals to be had

You'll have to use that link, as I couldn't find it on the main page. It's from a blog that I frequent, 36 Hour Killer Sale from Cigar Page | Cigar Reviews by the Katman

The Perdomo 20th sun grown is $65 right now, $5 less than the least expensive that I'd consider a deal.

Things ARE selling out, so... I ordered the Perdomo, the 2012 Oscar barberpole, the La Flora Dominicana, and the copper Stinky Jr ashtray.

I thought the Stinky Jr was discontinued, but even if it's still in production, $15 is a great price, and it can conceal a few weights epoxied under the base. At some point, I'll be trying my hand at making an ashtray for myself, but that price, and my project dance card being full enough already, I threw in the towel. I'll happily "settle" for the Stinky.

Rain again for me, so I'm fiddling around hoping to get a break soon, hope you guys find something interesting with that link.
