Hey all, love the site and the tips. Picked up a new to me Yamaha ar230 and have a couple questions. First, should any water be getting above the jet clean out plugs. Occasionally the shafts above the plugs are full of water. Am I losing power bc of this?

Second, twice now (on separate outings) I’ve hit larger wakes at a bit of speed, enough to bounce the boat around a bit and the motors have shut down. First time only the starboard side shut off, second time both motors quit. Not pulling kill switch off. Starts right back up so not a huge issue but doesn’t seem normal.

First question - common issue, happens to lots of people, and you are not losing power because of this.

For your second, the only thing that comes to mind for me is that PERHAPS the cleanout tray hatch is/was loose, or you hit the wave well enough to lift the hatch enough to kill the engines. Why the single engine shutoff, I have no idea, unless it simply didn't happen long enough for both to shut off or some other such lucky/weird occurence.
