Ok guys,

I have been talking to David from Candoo Pro for a solution for us Rotax owners to read/clear codes, restore and restart maintenance schedules, datalog, reset TPSs, and some minor coding. This system is also available for Yamaha boats.

I will be working with them to gather information, and send it to them like ecu codes, and maps so they can open up their system to the new family of Rotax powered jetboats.

This is great news for owners that like to do their maintenance themselves, or owners that live really far from their dealers.

I will be posting videos, and pictures to this thread as we get more information and see what we can, and cant do with our ecu's.

Update 06/08/15....

I got the Tracking number for the unit this morning.

Here is the instructions on how it works. Looks like you have to download the drivers, and software for the unit. I will be grabbing the trace files for the ECU and the dash board. I wish there was more Scarab/Chap/Glastron guys near me so I can get the same from their boats to send CANDOO to compare. What he says is that BRP writes diffrent IDs for all of their engines. Getting this info will help them gain access to the vital information.

Please download the drivers and install from http://www.candoopro.com/candooinstall/driver/usbdriver.exe
After the drivers are installed you may download and install the application from http://www.candoopro.com/candooinstall/CanDooPro.msi

The application will not run until the hardware has been plugged in one time. (you will get a .dll error) Do not plug in the hardware without first installing the drivers If you have any questions please let us know.
After you get the software installed and the system plugged in and started. It should say searching for vehicle at the bottom of the screen. Turn the ignition switch on (or install lanyard if it doesn't have a switch). Plug into the diagnostic plug. It will be a 6 pin plug with a cap on it.
When it says CAN detected, go up to the top left and click vehicle and then read vehicle.
This will help us a ton!!! Especially with the guys having issues with engines running hot, and will allow us to unlock some features like Cruise Control, and Docking mode on boats that dont have it. For the guys with Glastrons, this might help them install the SeaDoo digital gauge to have the functions the rest have. HUGE!

Update 06/10/15

Great news!! The Candoo Pro arrived, and I immediately took it to the Scarab to test. It works!!! I was able to see datalogs, run times, engine temps, EVERYTHING! I also found out some stuff about our engines. There are two intervals 10 hours, and 25 hours, in the beginning for a "maintenance needed" light to come on. Then after that its set to come on after 100 hours after the 25 hour service. (125 hours). Now BRP wants you to service the engine every 100 hours, or once a year. Personally, Ill do it about every 50 or once a year myself.

Enough talk... Here are the pictures.

Here is the Candoo Pro unit, and how it comes from the factory. You get the unit, a serial cable, and a USB cable. Instructions will be provided as well.


First thing you do is follow the instructions provided or go to www.candoopro.com. Download the USB drivers, and plug the unit into the USB. Then run the software. You will need an internet connection at first as it looks for updates. Download them, and update the file. It will then see the unit, and start the program. If you dont have internet connection by your boat, then disable the connection so your computer is offline. If the computer goes offline while the program is running, it may corrupt the software.

Then go to your boat, and in the rear of the engine bay, next to the fuse box, you will see a plug that is clipped into a cap with no wires. That is your power, and CAN system.

Then you unplug the connector, and plug it in the adaptor cord for the Candoo Pro.

Once on, the software will load, and you will have to select SEADOO.



It will then search for the CAN signal. Turn you key to run, but dont run the boat. It wont let you anyway. It will find the cluster, but not the ecu. This is normal.

Turn the key like you are trying to turn the engine on. You will hear a click from the ECU. At this point you have 3 minutes before the ECU turns off. Go to the top left, and select "read vehicle". The unit will then start to read the ECU and Cluster/ECM.

Engine Hours/Maintenance reset.


Internal fault code reads, and reset.


Activating fuel pump, Plugs, and fuel injector. This is great for diagnosing a problem.


60 second datalog history


Minutes running in limp mode, learn mode, rental mode (valet mode)or normal conditions. You can reset this. But at first it will give you a history from the beginning. As you can see, my boat has been normal so far.

RPM Range history. You can see how long you have been at full throttle. You can clear this also.


Min/Max numbers. As you can see the engine runs at 212 degrees normally, and the exhaust temp is around 194.


ECU information


Cluster info. This will enable you to buy a replacement cluster if you break yours, or upgrade to the touchscreen cluster. You see the "marry to ecu" option there.


Change units of measure, and language.


It will also monitor the engine, and datalog in real time. Ill play with it more tomorrow.

Not in a position to watch the videos, didn't see a price point on this...Cost?

Also, any legal or warranty implications?

@GTBRMC Cost is $399 for the home system that lets you store 4 vin numbers. As far as legal or warranty.... This product is licensed through Yamaha, BRP. There shouldnt be any warranty issues, as this is just a diagnostic software, not an ECU reflash. But Im sure every dealer will differ with this. But, its also covered under magnuson moss warranty act.

@Slugger55 Nope, looks like they are trying to make more money. As soon as I confirmed that it worked on the newer boats, they raised the price by $100. At this point its not even worth getting.

Sorry guys. Greed is still an issue with some companies.

Maybe the Scarab owners that are members here would be willing to chip in for a single community unit? Is the 4 vin/hin limit on the memory available or the number of boats it may be used on while it is in service?

I like the idea, but I am not sure it is the solution.. We would be shipping this thing all over the US and Canada... Potential for damage and additional costs.

After I confirmed with Mike they would marry clusters -> ecu's, my buddy went on ebay and scored a system for $150 (with only 1 vin slot used).

@Slugger55 I saw that! Its actually PWC muscle here in FL. They are awesome to deal with. CanDoo is in NC. I would jump on it as well. No telling if they are going to raise prices also.

One thing to remember. There is a 30 second lockout on the ECU. Once you turn the key to ignition, you will hear the click from the ECU. The Candoo will then read, and write to the ECU.

This lockout is normal, and is also present with the BRP computer that I used from MarineMax.

Another thing...

You cannot reset the "Maintenance Schedule" until the clock reaches "0". This is also hard coded to the ECU from BRP. So, If your like me, and change your oil, and filter every 50 hours, then you have to just wait on the scheduled time to clear the light when it shows up. It will show as minutes on the display.
