JetBoaters.net Bimini Fling June 19 to 25 2016

@Valerie beach side is only in a few feet of water the other side is a little deeper but probably no deeper then 8ft any where. If you fast forward to the 44 second mark of the video @andy07sx230ho and I are pulling up to this wreck in this video. From the top side looks similar to the other wreck just no wheels out of the water.

@andy07sx230ho, I have added all the dive sites that I and @justason are aware of to the map https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=znejP3LGotrM.k_RIN1Qmr5xM&usp=sharing

Do you have any to share? I only have the one airplane off the coast of South Bimini. I believe there is at least one more.

Thanks
Spots on the water to add
  • The airplane wreck that @robert843 mentioned, the one off the east end of the runway.
  • It might be nice to add the general location where you found the dolphins.
  • The Gun Cay lighthouse located on the south tip of Gun Cay and accessible on the south east side, assuming the rickety dock hasn't fallen down.

Spots on the land to add
  • At the Big Game Club I think that office is the Customs office not the Immigration office.
  • The Immigration office at the Police station, which on the map is on the west side of Queen's Hwy and between the map markers for the Big Game Club and Burger Queen (which I have never seen open).

@Bruce Great map, this will be very helpful.

I had almost forgot about the gun cay light house. @JROD and I went ashore to it last year the dock was still standing. It was very difficult to use and missing all kinds of wood. That was at the 2:30 mark on this video you can see the dock condition.

One other cool spot I didn't think about is the sand bar on the south side of the Cat Cay runway. No need for it to go on the map but if anyone has time this year and is looking for a good spot to chill its worth checking out. Not sure how deep it is over there as @JROD @Ramblin Wreck and I ran it on the skis and I do not think any of our boats went back there. It was probably the prettiest water I saw on the whole trip. There was a about 25ft fishing boat beached on the sand bar the first day we went back there so I know its possible to get them back there but would recommend high tide unless @JROD had a depth finder and could share some light on depth on that side. Its the blue part on the on the navionics map where it says Louis Town but all it gives me depth wise is lees then 6ft.

@andy07sx230ho, @robert843 I added your locations. Thank you.

Andy, I believe the immigrations office at the police station is a block further north than Burger Queen. Possibly in the clump of buildings just south of the clouds but I have only been there once.

Hey guys. Got bad news. Was looking forward to meeting everyone, putting faces to names and have fun with family . But the problem with insurance is looking bad.
It's going to cost me $2400. to insurance the boat.
Was not expecting that. Won't be able to go this time around. Hope you guys enjoy and be safe.

@andy07sx230ho, you are correct about the location of the immigrations office. Apple Maps has clear imagery of the area.

@Jose galvez, did you try Allstate? I only pay ~$350 a year and it covers 100 miles off the US coast.

Yea that was thru Allstate. But I'm going to go with Boat US. They dropped $200 if I get towing with them. Haven't given up yet. I'm trying my hardest to go. But the numbers are getting up there.

Did you get a quote from my company? I posted the info earlier.

The differences between insurance companies are mind blowing. I got a few quotes for my boat; Ski Safe in land only for $316, Boat Us up to 10 miles offshore for $273 a year with an additional policy for Bimini and I need a 28' or bigger boat to go with us, Progressive via USAA up to 100 miles of shore for $1007 a year :nailbiting: and State Farm up to 75 miles offshore for $373 a year. All the quotes with the same coverage. I'm going with State Farm.

Going to call him back Monday. He never returned my call left a message. I'll. Keep you up dated. Not giving up yet.

did you try state farm ? I went thru a lot of difficulties on this subject my first time thru.....Some companies could only classify my boat as a PWC because of the jets.....then hit me with a huge quote because of the HP on a PWC !....idiots. State farm has a built in rider that covers the bahamas.....I'd have to find declaration but its been posted on here before, I think in last years thread

edit: tagging @Jose galvez since I didn't reply to the right post

Pedro,

The information to make reservations at Bimini Sands, Bahia Mar Yacht Club and the Bahia Mar hotel are in the first post of this thread. I would encourage you to make your reservations sooner rather than later.

Well last year @kthrash was kind enough to have some stickers made for us that did the Bimini crossing last year. Thanks to his help he designed the same sticker for this year but since he will not be joining us this year I went ahead and ordered them to print. I display mine from last year proudly on my tow vehicle and really wanted one for this year as well. Thanks @kthrash ! @Bruce since my schedule doesn't allow me to join you guys till mid week this year if you pm me your address I will mail them to you and you can distribute at the captains meeting if your ok with that.

Those stickers were awesome from last year I hope we have the same quality of one this year. I installed them on my boat and they still look brand new like the day I installed them. I would be glad to make a donation towards the cost of the stickers for everybody.

@chris24 I ordered them from the exact same spot he did last year I had a couple quotes that were cheaper but agree the sticker quality was excelent and didn't want to risk getting a cheaper sticker.

I have a spot picked just above the grab rail, above "Conroe"
