Plenty big in comparison to my home lake, though I don't mind being right on the water on a small low traffic lake. . . . Way less noise, and much better for water sports.

I'd highly recommend a move to Florida. I live in Destin, which is in the Panhandle between Pensacola and Panama City. You can't beat the water and beaches. I've lived here my whole life. However, sometimes I dream of snow....no, seriously, I wish it would snow more. We do get all the seasons in the Panhandle. It was just down to 27 degrees here last cold front that moved through. But back in the 70's this week. I kid you not, people have been paddle boarding and swimming in the water this week.

I would to move to the Panhandle area of Florida. Destin would be nice. I live about 6 hours north of Destin in Georgia, so I really can't complain about the winters here.

We moved a little over a year ago from MI. The heat and humidity are a great trade off from the negative temps, icy roads and cleaning snow off of a car.

LoL bugs are not that bad......you shouldn't have bugs in the house and my back pool area is screened in from mosquitoes
Hot weather and boating goes hand in hand in my option...... you can boat year round in Florida and don't need to winter proof your boat.

This photo was taken on my old boat about a mile off shore in the keys. Water is 20 feet deep but clear like pool water.

It gets hotter and more humid up north in the summer. BUT it is hot much longer here. That is what most are really complaining about. Really 2 seasons....summer and a bit cooler summer. There was just a huge snowstorm in the Northeast. I will be on my boat today.....February 11th and have been almost every weekend. I am in the Tampa area and the winters are still too cold for me and I am originally from the NE. Looking for a place in the keys as we speak. I do not want to see daytime weather below 70....EVER

I was out on the water all day today and I actually had a shirt with sleeves on once again, I hate cold weather I'm just glad I did not need pants with sleeves or what ever they call those leg cover things.

Biggest challenge for me is keeping my feet dry launching and retrieving when those Florida blizzards roll in and the temp drops to 60*F. I have to wear socks and everything!

The water was hovering around 72 degrees in Tampa bay today, not the low 90's like we usually have in the summer but I managed to deal with it.

So, I started looking at a move to Florida. Looked at Destin and the Ft Myers area. I noticed that the cost of housing in Destin is 30% higher than the national average.

We still have one in high school and she was doing most of the research. When I called off the search (I'd forgotten that we have already purchased tickets to Maui for Christmas time and the prospect of flying across the country and not having vacation from starting new jobs caused me to call it) she was super mad. Apparently it turns out that she really wants to move to Florida also.

We're out there so much you probably have seen us. I've worn my kids out going on the boat so much, haha. They'll get over it. And yeah, still waiting on the water to warm up before we hit it too. As warm of a winter we had this time, hope it's soon. And I too hope you haven't been on the wrong side, however you're a fellow jetboater, so you get leeway.

I would check out anything south of Clearwater
I think you would have more boating options and places that are closer to check out.
5 hours from key largo and 6 hours from destin
And in between Clearwater and ft Myers there a lot of sandbars and islands to boat or beach at which is only 30 min to an hour drive.
You could also drive across the state to the east coast beaches in about 2 1/2 hours

Lived on Homestead AFB when Andrew paid a visit...so we moved to Tacoma, WA. My wife LOVED S. Florida but I could do without it. My issues was that I am NOT a saltwater and sand fan, as I grew up on the lakes in the Midwest; I did love the weather though! Many of my likes and dislikes are around my personality "quirks\features" that some call odd....I just call it normal.
