JetBoaters.net Bimini Fling July 9th to 14th 2018

For the Sunday run, do we have any news about when / where the captains meeting will be? Looks like my group will be rolling to town around 7:30

@rsrlegends, do you know who overheated?
Seems they all made it. Had tons of issues/breakdowns from seaweed. Jersey yami had to turn back after a half hour of trying to fix an overheating issue. water man checked in said the crossing was a breeze other than the damn seaweed. He said the other two boats went ahead of the group as they did not want to wait

Imagine that they didn't wait for the other boats

Me and @Dochapel went ahead. We did let the others know over the radio. Nice day on the water and we did stop midway for a swim.

Sorry we did not pick the chatter on the radio.
Glad you guys made it alright and apologies for the drag but we could not let boats on the seaweeed minefield

Jersey yammie 242 s was completely overheating and check engine light come off. Their intake were completely glocked and we had to clean them up from underneath the boat. The boat was pushing lukewarm water but the lights were still on. The boat was runing fine, but the crew was a bit overwhelmed. After 30 minutes dead in the water I asked them to go back while still could see port everglades and either make an attempt tomorrow or Tuesday. One the crew had boatusa so they would call for a tow if they could not make it back. I told to wait a bit and the then head back.
@Water Girl do you know if they made it back to Poet Everglades ?

SUNDAY Group please watch out for seaweed.
Please spread wide enough to give boats room to dodge seaweed. Today at times we had to choose between doffing seasweed and boats

Just checking in to say @Betik did a great job at the lead and I pulled up the rear. The seaweed was a real issue. Killing the engines and letting the boat come to a stop before restarting was something I had to do many time to clear the weed to stay ar normal rpms for the speed behind acheived. Aside from the weeds and the boats that had mechanical issues it was a great crossing.

Yeah but to be fair there was nearly double digit boats crossing I believe. No reason for 6/7/8 boats circling one. 1 or 2 boats helping would have been fine and easier to manage IMO. I think it’s easier with 3 or 4 max running together anyways.

I think we’re all just getting here and getting situated. How about for those who want a quick meeting meet at the docs at 5:30 am Sunday morning. Set channels to 69.

We are planning on joining group leaving tomorrow am. 2 jet skis and one 21ft polar prop boat. We are 6 adults and 2 children. Does anyone has room for one person? That be my long term girlfriend and 1st wife.

The over heat boat talked to dealer felt confident and beat us there!
I think we stopped 3 times for seaweed?
I know i had to restart an engine 3 times because i was jumping the waves.
Just choppy enough to need a bit extra throttle for my little boat but any second it would flatten out i would speed up quick as it got bite. I think i got scolded to not pass once and to speed up once when i ended up trailing to stay out of our own wakes.
In the end the bimini that broke on the drive down broke the same exact way on the water. I had prepared mentally and it didn't take much to dismantle what was left of it. I stood up and caught it as the front mount came loose. I said screw it cuz i didn't want to worry about it anymore. A simple drill and locking pin would work great over the allen head pinch the tube thing aerial designed.
Don't have power tools with so no bimini in bimini.
I knew @swatski screwed me

I learned the 240s really plow/cut through much nicer than my 212. I more like skip over the top.
I also learned that the weight comes with a significant fuel burn.
Some where almost out of fuel.
I have 1/2 a tank left.
Brought 10 gallons backup and put that in now for tomorrow.
Everything factory works great.

Also learned with mr1 engines spooled up you can't hear a vhf built in radio 2 feet from your head other than to know someone talked

Talk to @biminibrad or the guy we brought dog food for in the June trip I bet one of them can get you access to a drill

Gaylord use to be the man at Bimini Sands to get things done but unfortunately he wasn't picked up with the new management effective July 1st.

@Speedling, Mr. Saunders might be able to help you at his shop on the water in North Bimini. https://www.bahamas.com/vendor/ansil-saunders

I have a number for the mechanic who helped @Andy S somewhere. It is likely that a homeowner or one of the larger boats would have a drill and perhaps a bolt to use as a pin.

As in June it is recommended that you take toilet paper and paper towels.
We received a message that the check in staff would like to buy toilet paper and paper towels from anyone that has room to carry extra.
