2018 has 40 hrs and 1.5 seasons of use.
Connext went bad (Yamaha replaced) cost me 2 days of work taking it to dealer (they aren’t open on Saturdays) and picking it up. They couldn’t tell me why it went bad.
T-top is getting holes (not tears) in the BACK not the front where wind hits it. They won’t warranty it , cost 500+ and want me to bring it to them (another 2 days off work (because they Aren’t open on Saturdays).
I enjoyed reading this board and learning things about these boats but it’s the things I’m learning about Yamaha that have soured me. Hope everyone enjoys and has good luck with your boats!! Trading it in Saturday.

Sorry to hear this. I had a similar problem with the Connext and the port tach. Had to take it to the dealer twice but at least I got a new Connext out of it. Warranty covered everything although I think I was technically out of warranty. But they’ve had a bunch of problems with these two items so they covered it.

My dealer is not open on the weekend either but I just dropped it off on Sunday.

What are you going to trade it for? I almost bought the Chaparral VRX. Nice boat.

Bummer. Not sure about the holes in the top, maybe insects? Buy whatever boat you chose from someone closer to you, or at least open on Saturdays. Not that Yamaha shouldn't be better, but needing warranty work is common across other manufacturers as well.

Yamaha has low engine maintenance or at least easy engine maintenance. They lack in other areas. This is the internet though there is not a single vehicle manufacturer that doesn't have someone on the internet that hates them.

I don’t “hate” them , never said that. Just said I’m done with them.

With a new boat with a warranty you are likely to do same or worse with any other builder. If you value your time and are handy consider a used boat with no warranty. Much cheaper, and when it breaks you can pay cash for repairs which usually results in faster service, and you ability to select from a variety of repair options vs just the one dealer near by. I personally hate being on the hook with a warranty, which means you have already paid, and unless the organization is super top notch, the treatment post-payment is always worse than before you pay.

With a new boat with a warranty you are likely to do same or worse with any other builder. If you value your time and are handy consider a used boat with no warranty. Much cheaper, and when it breaks you can pay cash for repairs which usually results in faster service, and you ability to select from a variety of repair options vs just the one dealer near by. I personally hate being on the hook with a warranty, which means you have already paid, and unless the organization is super top notch, the treatment post-payment is always worse than before you pay.

You’re absolutely right. There are other issues with the boat , but for the price point I think they are still a good value. I didn’t realize that no-one here would touch them or do the warranty work (my fault for not checking).

I understand. We had a '13 LS and I was always worried about the 1.8 timing chain issue, and the factory canvas was junk. We loved the boat, and maintenance was a breeze, but traded for an outboard powered boat. The shallow water at our dock and the possibility for extended salt water wet slipping in the near future sealed the deal. Good luck with your new boat!

Thank you. Your right , only 40 hours and a 2000 dollar part went bad with no explanation. The boat runs great but now I think about that connext going out again. The wife loves the boat but I’m weary now.
We also mainly use it in salt water so there are a few other issues for which I don’t think the boat will stand up too. I may be wrong but I was wrong on the last boat and it cost me 12000$ more than the boat was worth. Might be a little different if the dealer was open on Saturdays. I run 2 companies and I don’t get paid by the hour , taking 2 days off each time for an issue is adding up.
The new sea pros come with a stem to Sterm warranty for 5 years. If a hinge or screw disscolors they replace it. Plus there’s a dealer near by.

Yeah , everything on the boat worked as if it was on , motor cranked and ran , lights , bilge , garmin , all worked only the screen wasn’t coming on. Couldn’t run or use the boat because I was worried if it overheated I wouldn’t know. For as much as that little thing cost it’s rediculous to have it.
