My vehicle is a Land Rover Evoque and the hitch was at 13”. So, I was able to get a new receiver and the top of the ball up to 19”. So, depending on the rear sag with the SUV might need a few more inches. But, seems like this should work out for the immediate Future. Thanks for the quick reply and good luck with the boat.
Thanks...we had it out today and made the usual beginner mistakes, but we had a blast and are looking forward to next week to get some more serious time on the boat.

I have a 195s and tow it with a new Kia Sorento AWD. It can tow up to 5000lbs. It works great. Never had an issue and can pull it out on a slick ramp better than most trucks out there.

Just picked up our 192 and towed it home 3 hours with the Odyssey. Not too shabby View attachment 122568
I have a 2016 odyssey too and I am going to pick up my AR190 in two weeks. Can you please help with two questions?

Do you still tow with your odyssey and is everything OK?

How much do you have to raise the ball mount in order to make sure the trailer is level?

I used a 5 1/4 drop up side down. I don’t recall the raise, the only issue I had was the brakes. The rotors got warped, from towing? Other then that it towed the 190 well.

Yes I do still tow with my odyssey. I have an external transmission cooler and I added the airlift 1000 airbags. I have towed as far as 4 hours away with no issues.
I have the ball height at 20 inches (4 inch rise ball mount)even with the airbags it still sags 1 inch to level at 19inches. I have an aftermarket hitch curt which is below the bumper item hitch might not need as much rise.

Thank you. I appreciate the information. I am going to drive 6 hours back home after picking up the boat from the dealer. It is impossible to find a boat closer to me. Thanks for the information for the airlift 1000 airbags. I didn’t know that before and will look into it.

Thanks for the information.

Sorry to hear about the issue with the rotors. I am assuming you are talking about the rotors of your odyssey, not the trailer, correct? It didn’t happen again after replacing the rotors, correct? I have a 6 hours drive home after picking up my boat and I am wondering if I should be concerned about that.

I assume you will be on the highway, so you should be fine in term of roters. I would not go 80mph though.

If your trailer does not have brakes you should add brakes it is not a difficult job and will be safer as well as help the vans brakes

It was on the Van, the van was basically brand new at the end of summer I think it had 12,000 miles on it. I was impressed with how the Van towed the 190, my Truck buddy road with me one day and couldn’t believe how well it towed. Was it from towing not really sure, it’s possible it had bad rotors to begin with. I never really towed with it after that as our other vehicle got upgraded to a F150. Keep in mind my 190 did not have trailer brakes, if Yamaha’s website is correct it looks like the new 190’s now come with trailer brakes. However their website is awful so I would see if anyone can chime in if this is actually true. If you have trailer brakes I wouldn’t worry about it and tow away. I would just be mindful of hard stopping unless an emergency of course. I will tell you that my service guy told me the rotors are the same on the Accords, Odyssey’s, and the Pilots. Do you have the factory hitch or an aftermarket one? I had an aftermarket one which mounted a little lower. I know the Honda one they cut into the bumper so it sits higher. This may change the correct raise you need, I remember with my setup I could still open the back with the trailer hooked up, by less then a half inch. Keep in mind if you don’t have a transmission cooler you should add this as well. I will tell you in 2019 we got a new van. Honda updated their transmission and I can honestly say I really don’t care for how it shifts. I haven’t towed with it but I imagine I would be very disappointed with the results, as driving by it self is less than desirable in my opinion.

@SCP1 Thank you!

Yes, my AR190’s trailer has brakes. The surge brakes are a standard for the new boat now.

I don’t have a trailer hitch yet. I am planning to do it at Uhaul next week. After the hitch is installed, I am going to measure it and buy the correct ball mount.

A few years ago, we trade in our highlander and bought the odyssey for the space because we didn’t know that we will get a boat after a few years. Anyway, it wasn’t a very wise move. I will probably tow with odyssey for a few years before I switch to a all-wheel drive SUV. Towing compacity wasn’t a factor when I bought a car in the past and I will make the right decision when we buy our next car.

I am planning to install the transmission cooler too at the dealer. Since we are on this topic, I am planning to buy an OBDII Scan Tool like below to monitor the transmission temperature, I don’t know for sure if it is going to work yet as I got some mixed answers. Do you have any experience with that?
